ETO'O HAT-TRICK POWERS CHELSEA PAST UNITED

Samuel Eto'o scored three goals as Chelsea FC beat Manchester United FC 3-1 to keep in touch at the top, on a day when Tottenham Hotspur FC prevailed by the same scoreline.
Samuel Eto'o's first Chelsea FC treble steered the London side to a 3-1 win against Manchester United FC on a day when Tottenham Hotspur FC beat Swansea City AFC by the same scoreline.
The Cameroon striker dropped his shoulder to deceive Phil Jones on the edge of the box before caressing the ball into the far corner via a deflection on 17 minutes. United's response was spirited but counted for little when Eto'o turned in Gary Cahill's centre on the stroke of half-time.
Eto'o completed his hat-trick four minutes after the interval, following up Cahill's parried header from close range. David Moyes's side continued to probe and ended Chelsea's resolve when Javier Hernández connected with a Jones attempt at the back post. Nemanja Vidic was then sent off for a challenge on Eden Hazard as the Blues moved back within one point of Manchester City FC and two of leaders Arsenal FC, with United down in seventh.
Earlier on Sunday, Tottenham posted a fifth consecutive Premier League away success in south Wales. Emmanuel Adebayor headed Spurs in front against the run of play and forced Chico to put through his own net shortly after half-time. The revitalised striker then completed formalities with a cool side-footed finish from inside the area seven minutes before Wilfried Bony scored a classy consolation.
