WHY I DON’T WANT TO BE A KING…ACTOR, DEJUMO LEWIS

Veteran Nollywood actor, Dejumo Lewis, who played the role of a paramount king, Oloja of Oja in the now rested NTA drama, Village Headmaster, has disclosed that he is set out to help build Nigeria and Africa as a whole and not ready for any kingship position.

The actor stated that he is from Erijiyan in Ekiti state and belongs to the ruling families but was not interested in any royal position.

He noted that though he plans to relocate to his state, but for a better course of helping to develop the youths to models in the country at large.
According to him, “Despite coming from a royal family, my mission in life was not to become a king. Now, I’m planning to relocate to Erijiyan Ekiti to help develop my town and state of origin, with the hope of building a cultural foundation that will help others and be a model for Nigeria and other parts of Africa. This I hope to leave behind for community and my children. And I hope to develop this as our culture dictates.”

“I belong to one of the ruling families? I’m not cut out for that because my mission is for Nigeria and Africa as a whole. Mind you, I left the priesthood because it will restrict my professional and operational base, so also the kingship stool will restrict me to my domain,” he told Sun newspaper.

TRUMP CAMPAIGN MISTAKENLY TWEETS STAR-SPANGLED NAZIS

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign on Tuesday inadvertently tweeted a promotional photo featuring what appeared to be Nazi German soldiers superimposed on the U.S. flag alongside the controversial real estate magnate's face.

The gaffe, which Trump's campaign blamed on an intern, was the latest setback for the TV show host who lost business deals with Univision, NBC and NASCAR after making comments about Mexican rapists immigrating to the United States.

The tweeted picture also shows the White House and a $100 bill and the slogan, "We need real leadership. We need results. Let's put the U.S. back into business!"
"A young intern created and posted the image and did not see the very faded figures within the flag of the stock photo. The intern apologized and immediately deleted the tweet,” Trump's campaign said.
The four soldiers pictured seemed to be actors wearing the uniforms of the notorious SS force, Twitter users said.

On Monday, an aide to Trump said that the FBI is investigating threatening tweets to him that were purported to have originated from Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the Mexican drug lord who escaped from prison on Saturday.

PASSENGER TURNOUT RISES AT LAGOS AIRPORT AHEAD EID-EL-FITRI HOLIDAYS

(NAN) Passenger traffic rose at the Domestic Terminals 1 and 2 of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja on Thursday ahead of the Eid-el-Fitri holidays, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

NAN aviation correspondents observed an influx of outbound and in-bound passengers at the airport as many travelled to various locations for the celebration.

The Federal Government had declared Friday and Monday as public holidays to mark the festive period.

NAN reports that many of the outbound passengers were seen on long queues, waiting to board flights to their destinations, while others waited patiently to pick up their luggage on arrival.

Several air travellers were also seen struggling to get seats on the few available flights to their various destinations across the country.

NAN reports that an air ticket from Lagos to Kano, which used to sell for between N22, 500 and N27,000, rose to about N35,000 in some cases.

Flights from Lagos to Abuja, which normally cost between N15, 000 and N26,000, depending on the airline and the time of flight, also went for N30,000 or more.

NAN observed that most of the flights that had their fares increased were headed for the northern part of the country.

The Aero Contractor Airlines check-in counter had the longest queue of passengers at the MMA2, while the Arik Airline counters also had long queues at the General Aviation Terminal One (GAT1).

A passenger, Mrs Adeyinka Akilla, who was travelling to Abuja with her children, said she had
purchased a ticket for the flight from Lagos the previous week.

Akilla, however, said that she got to the airport a few minutes after the first boarding call but was denied access to the plane on the excuse that she was late.
“I was surprised to get here only to learn that I was late. My flight was scheduled for 3:30 p.m., and I got here at 2.30 p.m. because of traffic, but the airline’s officials didn’t check me in.
“They said I was very late; I had to run around to raise extra money to pay in order to be able to go with the next available flight.
“I think it is rather unfair, because I should still have been allowed to get on the plane,’’ she lamented.
Mr Olumide Faleti, who was heading to Enugu said: “it is funny how things operate here. “This is a time to share and not to exploit your passengers.’’
According to him, domestic airlines should learn to introduce low cost promotional fares to attract travellers instead of exploiting passengers as a result of the season.

He regretted the dearth of Nigerian airlines, saying the few ones that were privately owned were cashing on the development at the detriment of their customers. (NAN)

HOW JONATHAN DESTROYED PDP – FORMER PRESIDENTIAL AIDE

A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ex- Parliamentary Liaison Adviser to late President Umaru Ya’Adua, Senator Abba Aji, has accused former President, Goodluck Jonathan of destroying the ruling party.

Speaking with newsmen in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Abba Aji, who was justifying his decision to quit his party (PDP) to join the All Progressive Congress (APC), claimed that Jonathan killed the former ruling party before leaving office on May 29.

“PDP was deliberately destroyed by Jonathan. He was the greatest beneficiary of democracy in Nigeria and PDP’s 16 years of ruling in most states and at the federal level, yet he did everything to undermine the progress of the party and left it worse than he met it. He simply messed up the party,” he alleged.

He said the battle against Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast did not receive timely attention from the Jonathan’s presidency until it got out of hand.

He warned that a year added to the increasing violence in his home state, Borno, could create bigger problem for the state and the country.

He said the social and economic impact of these challenges would be catastrophic for a state that is grappling with education backwardness even before insurgency started about six years ago.

“I agree the situation today may be different from when I served at National Assembly about 10 years ago, but I believe I have the capacity to handle the challenges we have in Borno now namely closure of schools, parents inability to farm having been forced to flee their communities, huge population of IDPs and economic challenges. I don’t think I’m looking for any material benefit now at my age. This is the time to give to my state what it has given unto me,” Aji stated.

FULL TEXT OF PRESIDENT BUHARI’S EID-EL-FITR MESSAGE

Fellow Compatriots,

I greet and felicitate with you all, especially our citizens of the Islamic faith on this auspicious occasion of the 2015 Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

I congratulate all those who have successfully completed the Ramadan fast in keeping with the injunction of our Creator.

Although we have come to the end of this year’s month of Ramadan, I believe that a greater acceptance by Nigerians of its key lessons of self-denial and sacrifice will serve our dear country well as we strive to overcome our present challenges, undo the damage done by years of bad governance and accelerate the pace of national development.

Reviewing our dire circumstances and the many missed opportunities of the past, some commentators and observers have said that this is Nigeria’s last chance to get its act together and finally begin to fulfill its God-given potential for greatness.

While not going that far, I certainly believe that now, more than ever before, our country needs greater self-denial, sacrifice and patriotism from all of its citizens, if we are to quickly recover from our numerous problems and start moving in a positive direction.

This current period of our life as a nation offers us a great opportunity to break from the vicious triangle of insecurity, corruption and under-development. We must collectively resolve to seize this opportunity and unite to confront our problems.

I remain wholly committed to giving the required leadership towards undoing the wrongs of the past, ensuring that Nigeria truly begins to unlock its great potential and that the benefits of our immense national resources are shared and enjoyed by all, not just by successive cabals of corrupt leaders and their cronies.

I was very aware of your high expectations when I assumed office and I reassure you, my fellow citizens, that since my inauguration on the 29th of May this year, I have been working with utmost dedication to meticulously plan and tackle the many national challenges which we identified and promised to resolve.

To succeed however, I need your continued support, understanding and patience.

I fully understand and share the thirst of my long-suffering compatriots for corruption-free government institutions that work efficiently to deliver visible development for the benefit of all citizens.

I also share the feelings of those who think that we should be moving faster. But I urge them and all Nigerians to trust that my commitment to real and positive change in our nation is as firm as ever.

There is indeed much work to be done, but we must do it well and carefully to ensure that the great opportunity which we now have is not lost to the “business as usual” group who selfishly or shortsightedly prefer a status quo that panders to their personal or group interests.

The adverse effects of years of rot, corruption, inept and bad governance on our nation are immense, but certainly not insurmountable if we all resolve now to place the well-being of our nation above all other considerations and work whole-heartedly with the present administration to achieve greater peace and security across the nation, and reposition our country for faster economic development and progress.

May Almighty Allah continue to guide us and bless our dear nation.

I wish you all happy Eid-el- Fitr celebrations.

Muhammadu Buhari

President,

Federal Republic of Nigeria

WORK ON BADAGRY DEEP SEA PORT, LAGOS-BADAGRY EXPRESSWAY TO START IN TWO MONTHS – AMBODE

(NAN) Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State says work will commence in the next two months on the proposed Deep Sea Port in Badagry, simultaneously with the 10-lane Lagos-Badagry Expressway project.

Ambode disclosed this on Thursday while on an inspection tour of the Lagos-Badagry expressway, Mile-2 light rail and Badagry deep sea port projects.

He said that the proposed deep sea port was an investment, which meant a lot to the state in terms of job creation and development of new settlements and towns.

Ambode said that the Badagry Deep Sea Port, which would occupy a land mass of over 1000 hectares, would be the biggest in Africa.

According to him, it will have a free trade zone and also a container terminal.
“This deep sea port means a lot of us in terms of employment; it means a lot for us also in terms of new settlement like it has been said.
“We hope that in the next two months we’re coming to start this project here,” he said.
Ambode said that the project, which was 500 metres away from the Point of No Return, would also serve as a tourist attraction.
“For us, we have decided to protect that particular place to make sure that tourism is also complemented in this project.
“With a Deep Sea Port project like this, it means that there will be new settlements in Badagry, new towns and the standard of living will be positively affected by this kind of project.
“I just want to assure you that simultaneously, those two projects will start in earnest and then we will use that to create jobs for our people and also increase the GDP of the state’s economy.
“I assure you strongly that within the next four years, you will see a dramatic change in this axis of Lagos,”
he said.
Ambode assured the aggrieved people of Aivoji and other communities where the deep sea port project is situated that government would protect their interest and ensure they were adequately compensated.

Earlier, while briefing Ambode on the progress of work at the site of the deep sea port, Project Resettlement Superintendent, Mr Justin Okwufu, explained that enumeration of assets of communities to be resettled had been concluded.

He said that about 350 hectares had been earmarked for them.

Okwufu, however, said that the Aivoji people, who were one of the 12 communities to be relocated, had expressed unwillingness to be relocated and had already gone to court over the matter. (NAN)

DON JAZZY: HOW TO MAKE A STAR IN ONE YEAR

“One thing that still amazes us about Don Jazzy and his new recruits Korede Bello, Reekado Banks and Di’ja is their rise to stardom in such a short time given the situation of things in our music industry. Indeed, everything he touches turns to gold.

This is not an eulogy of an incredibly talented man and his team, nope… let’s just say it’s more like a case study of how he was able to mould three relatively unknown young artistes into highly sought-after music acts Within a blink of an eye. Yes, a blink of an eye equals 1 year in our Naija industry. Needless to say we’ve seen some artistes rise and crash in even shorter time.

Shall we chalk it up to incredibly good PR, better talent, great connections, charisma and awesome leadership?

We really don’t know, it could be all of the above plus a dash of good luck. What we do know is that Don Jazzy and his triplets have carved a niche for themselves and they are really hard to resist. When news of the trio’s addition to the long list of Globacom ambassadors broke out, it got us wondering, “What is the formula behind their success?” Perhaps we should take a look at the list of hit songs that have come from the three stars; Although Reekado Banks got into our purview with Chop Am, Katapot was the real deal breaker, Dija from Awww and Korede with Godwin. However before their singles, the Mavin’s group song Dorobucci which became a national anthem is what we would say endeared these three artistes to us, topped by Adaobi which featured just them and DonJazzy. Looku Looku, another Mavin all-stars wasn’t bad either. These should cover better talent right?

Now for good PR, when it comes to listing fan-friendly record labels, Mavin records can be found at the peak. The trio have a huge fan base, so much so that the fans have developed a brand for themselves; the Bellovers, Reekadicts and DijaNation and so far, there hasn’t been news of them getting into fights with their fans. Better yet, they give freebies (something we all like receiving), they have remarkable rapport with ‘their’ public, plus we haven’t actually heard anything negative about these guys. Combine that with the connections the record label had garnered over time and we ask you, why won’t doors open?

What better way to package all these factors than awesome leadership skills as displayed by the ace producer cum artiste Don Jazzy. When it comes to leadership skills, only a few equals him in the music industry, which goes without saying how many labels have come crashing today due to lack of the needful leadership skills, clash of egos, and lack of direction?

Not only is the music maestro passionate about his wards, he evidently doesn’t see himself as just their boss but a member of a team. And as far as Charisma is concerned, what more can we say- Everybody Loves Don Jazzy!

Here’s a quick question though, how is the record label managing with half of them signed as MTN ambassadors and the other half GLO? Are they like rivals now or what?”

TINUBU’S STYLE OF POLITICS AKIN TO AWOLOWO’S – GROUP

A group, Leadership Advancement Platform, says the leadership style of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, could only be compared to that of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Alhaji Sheu Yar’Adua.

In a statement signed by its President, on Thursday, Ayo Boluwade, and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Femi David, the group said Tinubu had contributed to the development of many emerging leaders across the country.

The group, however, urged the APC to be wary of power play that could affect its goodwill.

The group said, “Tinubu has produced many leaders across the country and also empowered many others politically. The selfless service and patriotism of the APC national leader was also manifested during the last general election when the APC defeated the PDP.

“Party supremacy needs to be respected at all times and the views of the party leaders must also be regarded as sacred in order for President Muhammadu Buhari to succeed.

The group said Buhari had so far displayed to Nigerians that his administration was for all, and that the demonstration of such could be seen in the recent appointment of service chiefs, where an Ekiti indigene, Maj. Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin, was appointed as the Chief of Defence Staff.

AMBODE ASSURES OF EARLY COMPLETION OF MILE 2-BADAGRY ROAD, OTHERS

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday assured Lagosians of his administration’s determination to complete the Mile 2-Badagry Road Expansion project in quick time.

Governor Ambode who gave the assurance when he inspected the Mile 2-Badagry road expansion works, which is being expanded to a 10-lane way, said the contractor working on the project will be mobilised to ensure its completion.

He said: “What we have come here to do is to specifically ensure that the contractor here is mobilised. It’s also important for us that the contractor takes it as a major priority.

“The Mile 2 Badagry Expressway is very important to all of us and like we said, it’s a project that we must finish. It’s a project that I would like to be completed within the shortest possible time, so I’ll like to see greater work done on the road project itself.”

On the Blue Line Light Rail project, the governor said efforts will be made to ensure that the Mile 2 to the National Theatre Corridor is completed soon.

“We should be able to put to use whatever has been done from Mile 2 to Marina. Immediately they commence work on the road project from Mile 2 towards Badagry, once we pass the aspect of Okokomaiko, we should be able to do the Blue Rail from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko,” he said.

He urged the contractor to increase the pace of work on the project just as he assured them of government’s readiness to address the challenges they might be encountering towards completing the project.

“What we expect is that notwithstanding the rain or whatever, the immediate mobilisation should be done and then the contractor should also increase the pace of work. That’s what we’ll like to see and wea also wish to let you know that whatever it is that are encumbrances to completing this project, we’re all going to sit down to make sure that we alleviate the sufferings of our people,” he said.

The governor who later inspected the Badagry Deep Sea Port project assured that the state government will give adequate support to the initiative just as he assured the communities within the location that their interests will be protected.

He said the Sea Port, on completion, will be the biggest in the African continent.

“The land space for the Deep Sea Port is over 1000 hectares of which we have just been told that there’s going to be a free trade zone and then a container terminal that we are going to have here.

“We already know that the investors have done the best they can. We have Mearsk in the bouquet of investors who have signed on to this project and what that means for us is that we are going to have the largest cargo container port in Africa, situated in Badagry.

“That means a lot of us in terms of employment. It means a lot for us also in terms of new settlement like it has been said, we hope that in the next two months, we’re coming to start this project here,” he said.

He said he personally came to see the project, stating that it is part of his promise to bring development to the communities in the axis.

Harping on the need to complete the project, he said the state government will ensure that the 12 communities expected to be resettled as a result of the project are duly compensated.

He said aside the Deep Sea Port, the state government will utilise the tourism potentials and side attractions notable within the axis.

“Like you have also been told, this project is 500 metres away from the ‘Point Of No Return’ which is also a tourist attraction for us; so we have decided to protect that particular place to make sure that tourism is also complemented in this project.

“With a Deep Sea Port project like this, it means that there would be new settlements in Badagry, new towns and the standard of living is positively affected by this kind of project.

“That is why we want to appeal to everybody including every Lagosian, before I came here, I inspected the Mile 2 Badagry Expressway Project which is a 10-lane project. There is no way we want to do the Deep Sea Port project here if we do not finish the Mile 2 Badagry Expressway project.

“I just want to assure you that simultaneously, those two projects will start in earnest and then we will use that to create jobs for our people and also increase the GDP (gross domestic product) of the Lagos economy and strongly within the next four years you will see a dramatic change in this axis of Lagos,” the governor said.

BUHARI IS NOT A MAGICIAN – BASKET MOUTH

Popular Nigerian stand up comedian, Basket mouth, has chided the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, over its incessant attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari.

The artist took to his twitter page in condemnation of the former ruling party for its frequent media attacks on the President, saying it was wrong to suddenly wake up in criticism after being in power for 16 years of no performance.

He wrote,

“Can PDP shut the hell up and let Buhari work? You guys were in power for 16 years, where did you leave Nigeria? He’s only been there for 2 months and I am sure you don’t expect him to perform some sort of miracles”.
He further cautioned the PDP to keep calm and let the new presiding body take charge.

Continuing, he threw darts at the PDP, saying,
“your stay in power was null and void because to me, you did absolutely nothing. You left my dear country worse than you met it”.
“University students were at home for over 7 months just last year, and polytechnic students stayed at home for over a year. How much of your devastating failures can i mention?,” he added.
The Comedian enjoined everyone, especially the PDP and her followers, to let the President be. He said,
“if your campaigns of calumny couldn’t stop him prior to the election, no evil machination will stop him from delivering this change to Nigerians”.

“Give him time. We voted a president, not a magician”, he jeered.

I CHOSE THE BEST MAN TO SUCCEED ME – OBASANJO

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has disproved views by some critics that he may have exercised poor judgment in choosing a successor before he left office. The former president made the statement yesterday while giving his opinion about some views of persons who reviewed his book titled, “My Watch” that he may have submitted to his poor judgment by the way he condemned those who came after him. The former president made the statement during an interview with Channels Television at his hill top residence in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. But Obasanjo insisted that contrary to the opinions in some quarters, his administration was guided by facts available and that the best judgment was made in the choice of members of his team and his successor the late President Umaru Yar’Adua. He added that those who engage in such criticism usually do not have all the facts.

He said, “Even if you take your son as your successor, you are not sure of what he will do when he gets there. Don’t ever kid yourself. What do I know about any successor? What he presents. When he gets there he presents it differently. “We did our best, but if you say our best is not good enough, I will say, when it comes to your turn, do better. With all the people that are available, for successor, what we came up with was about the best that, at that time we could think of.” The former President further stressed that he could not have selected someone he knew was corrupt for the position of a President. “Is it the one that we know are corrupt that we will now go and take? No! “If I give the job to the corrupt, will I be able to defend myself before God and man?” he questioned.

OBAMA TO BREAK PROTOCOL FOR BUHARI’S VISIT

In evidence of his readiness to forge closer ties with Nigeria, US President Barack Obama will be breaking his administration’s habit when President Muhammadu Buhari arrives in Washington D.C. on a state visit on Monday next week.

The American leader will host President Buhari as his personal guest at the Blair House, the official guest house of the American president right opposite the White House, for three days.

This is a clear retreat from the American government’s attitude to visiting heads of state, particularly Nigerian leaders. It is also a demonstration of Obama’s admiration of President Buhari for the Nigerian leader’s acclaimed prudence and contempt for expensive lifestyle.

The decision to host President Buhari in the official guest house of the US president will not only cut down the cost of the trip, but also allow time for informal discussions by both leaders.

Buhari is said to have pegged his entourage at 32, a big difference from the immediate past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan who was once reported to have embarked on a two-day trip with a team of about 100 persons.

During official visits to Washington D.C. while in office, Jonathan and his entourage usually stayed at the Westin Grand Hotel. At other times, he booked Waldorf-Astoria Hotel and the Pierre Hotel.

During the coming visit, the two leaders will exchange ‘wish lists’. These will contain the requests of both leaders from each other, as well as firm pledges on how they plan to come to each other’s aid.

It was learnt that top on the US government’s pledges its greater help in the fight against terrorism. In return, the US government wants Nigeria to show greater commitment to the war on corruption, particularly transparency in public service.

HUSBAND OF WOMAN WHO HAS TRIPLE TWINS RETURNS HOME (PHOTO)

The man who absconded the moment he realised his wife was about to have another set of twins, has returned on Wednesday.

Citizen Uche returned home to their new house in Ogun state courtesy of the help his wife received.

The Uches, who were once living in a dilapidated house in Agege, have moved to a mini flat in Ogun state.

Speaking about why he ran, the run-away father said;
“Like I told you on phone, it was not easy for me. I contemplated suicide on several occasions. I cannot believe I am here, holding my kids for the first time since they were born three months ago.
“When I left, I initially went to the village where I spent a month. After that, I came back to Lagos but stayed with my friend around Oko-Oba in Agege. I still live with him I know that I was not far from them, but I just did not want to return without a better solution on how to cater for my home. I was ashamed too to come back to that house to see them after I’d abandoned them and run away. But after our discussions and my wife told me that they had moved, I went to our old house and asked one of the neighbors who had been here for direction so that I could come and see them.”

His wife Ruth says things are going better for her now thanks to external help, and even her mother in law has become closer to the family, unlike before.

She said:
“Would I have ever lived in this kind of house with my family and I having a toilet and kitchen to ourselves? I moved in here on Sunday and I am so happy and grateful. Aunty, come and see our bedroom; have you seen the toilet? See our kitchen. See me now! I have a room and parlour self-contained. What more can I want, except for my husband to come and enjoy this good life with me?
“People who used to laugh at us for not having food to eat can now see how God works. Even my mother-in-law who has not called me for so long now calls me. I am just so thankful to God because he did not allow me and my children die in shame. I have promised God that I will do my best to grow my business. I want to grow and be able to help women with similar case as mine. I want to be able to impact their lives in future as my life was touched and changed.”

BUHARI CANNOT CLEAN UP 16-YEARS OF PDP MESS IN 30 DAYS – TINUBU

APC national leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lambasted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other Nigerians who have accused Buhari’s administration of snail-pacing.

To Tinubu, the 16-years? mess of the PDP cannot be cleaned up in 30 days.

Recalling the challenges APC conquered to get to power, President Buhari who hosted the party’s leaders stated that for the party to deliver on its campaign promises, the leaders needed to resolve their differences.
“I always like to go down memory lane to show how lucky we are as a political group. “At no stage was the decision taken by chance it was all deliberate. The leaders of the parties felt the only way to wrestle power from the PDP was for us to come together. I in particular was scared after previous failures of the elections of 2003, 2007 and 2011. “We dissolved our various parties to form APC then we applied to INEC, for once I was grateful to INEC. We had gone with nine people to INEC to apply and INEC advised us that we needed at least 25 people across the people to form a political party. We were able to go back raised 35 members across the country and then successfully registered the party. “INEC then informed the federal government that we have met the requirements hence we cannot be denied registration. Many doubting Thomases said merger has never succeeded in Nigeria but here we are. “I went into this long explanation so that you will appreciate how far we have come and for a society as ours, if we respect the constitution, then all the greed and problems will be a thing of the fast.
“We should just look at Nigeria as Nigerians, no matter the level you are, loss your influence so that we can help achieve the manifestos – security, economy, employment and corruption because if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria. We have to ensure that people we bring forward are those that will move the society forward”.

While appreciating the President for the opportunity of breaking Ramadan fast with him, Tinubu who also described APC as the Armoured Personnel Carrier, said the party represented the diversity of Nigeria. He pledged total support to the government of the day, assuring President Buhari of success in office. He said,
“We believe this diversity will continue to propel us for economic growth under your leadership. “This is the first Ramadan after the election. We thank God for cutting down the opponents 60 years of fake promises to 16 years. “I heard they say we are slow. Yes, we didn’t campaign to be fire fighters, but planners and meticulous one at that. A latrine pit of 16 years can’t be cleaned up in 30 days because the mess is much. “Mr. President you started well, you hit the ground running. You promised Nigerians that you’ll address security and your first meeting to ECOWAS was on security because we cannot fight alone. “You have been to others places. If they think is a game of ludo, we will say is serious business. If they forgot G7 we will remind them. “We have faith in you Mr. President. We have faith in your capacity and uprightness. I’m here filled up and not fed up. “We promise to continue to be with you and support. No matter what they are saying we are not re-running the election until four years time. “We pray to God to give us four more years of this month and pray to Him to forgive our misdeeds, and for peace and stability, with this Nigeria is a promise to the future.”

MEEK MILL ‘WISHES’ NICKI MINAJ WAS PREGNANT

The 28-year-old rapper dismissed speculation the 32-year-old singer is carrying his baby but admits he wants to have children “sooner or later” with the ‘Starships’ hitmaker.

Speaking to Eminem’s online radio station Shade 45, Meek said:
“Nicki ain’t pregnant. But yeah, I wish…I already tweeted that five years ago, so it should be happening later. Sooner or later, when we ready for that.”
When Nicki heard from fans what Meek had said in his interview, however, she quickly took to Twitter to insist she isn’t going to have a child before she’s married, and also revealed the ‘Amen’ hitmaker had omitted that part of the story when he told her how the interview went.

The ‘Anaconda’ rapper – whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj – shared:
“He always hit me after the interview n give me the run down. He ain’t mention that part tho. “No matter wut he, or anyone else says, Onika Tanya Maraj won’t b pushing anyone1 out her vajayjay, until she’s married. Now check that (sic)”.
Considering she and Meek are engaged to be married, it may not be long before she has children.

The hip-hop couple got engaged after just two months of dating, and Nicki was flooded by messages of congratulations after she showed off her large heart-shaped white and yellow diamond engagement ring on Instagram in April.

BUHARI REJECTS OFFER TO BUY N400M ARMOURED CARS FOR HIS USE

President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected an offer by the Federal Government to purchase five new armoured Mercedes Benz S-600 (V222) cars for his use.

The cost of the 5 cars was put at N400m and they were to be purchased by the State House.

However, a source in the Presidency told journalists on Thursday that Buhari got to know of the plan when the Permanent Secretary, State House, Mr. Nebolisa Emodi, was briefing him of his ministry’s activities on Wednesday.

Buhari was said to be shocked about the development and told Emodi that the purchase was unnecessary.

Describing it as a waste of scarce resources, the source said Buhari told the permanent secretary that the cars he inherited from former President Goodluck Jonathan were good enough for him.

“I don’t need any new cars. The ones I am using now are just fine,” the source quoted Buhari as saying. The top government officials, however, said Buhari welcomed other initiatives presented by the permanent secretary to reduce the operating costs of the State House and strengthen its Finance and Accounts Internal Control Mechanisms.

Henceforth to capture all State House expenses within the approved national budget. This, he said, was to avoid the frequent recourse by past administrations to “Presidential intervention funds.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, confirmed to Punch that Buhari had withheld approval for the purchase of the new cars.

Shehu said the President would continue to use the cars left behind by Jonathan in keeping with his commitment to prudent management of national resources.

According to Punch, the proposal to procure the new cars was first made to Jonathan before he left office.

The former President was however said to have directed that it be represented to Buhari for approval on his assumption of office since the cars could only be delivered some months after the May 29 handover date.

The Aquila records boss revealed his entrepreneurial nature led him into charting a path different from some of his siblings.

PDP KICKS AS IGP INVITES EKWEREMADU

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised an alarm over the reported invitation extended to the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase.

According to the party, Ekweremadu has been asked to report at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, Monday to answer questions on a petition said to have been filed against him by a group of senators detailing how he unilaterally tinkered with certain provisions of the Senate Standing Rules relating to the election of the President of the Senate and that of the Deputy.

The petitioners were said to have alleged that Ekweremadu had taken undue advantage of the slated rules to become the Deputy Senate President in the June 9 election of principal officers of the National Assembly.

But speaking at a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh said the said amendment to the rule was effected by the bureaucracy of the National Assembly headed by the Clerk, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa.

Metuh said the invitation from the IGP was a build up to phantom charges with a view to arresting and incarcerating Ekweremadu, and thereby creating a vacuum in the Senate and pave the way for the imposition of a preferred APC senator to take his position.

The party accused certain unnamed All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders of instigating the police action against Ekweremadu, adding that the party had uncovered threats to the life of the Deputy Senate President and other key leaders of the PDP.
