GANGNAM STYLE GALLOPING TO YOUTUBE RECORD

South Korean pop phenomenon Psy is on pace to gallop into the record books this weekend with his “Gangnam Style” mega hit set to smash through the two-billion mark on YouTube.
It would be a first at YouTube, where “Baby” by Justin Bieber in February became the only other video in the billion-view club.
“Two billion views; they are very honorable and very burdensome numbers,” Psy said in a statement YouTube shared with AFP on Friday.
“With the appreciation, I will come back soon with more joyful contents!”“Gangnam Style” at the OfficialPsy channel has racked up nearly 100 million views this year, bringing it to less than 500,000 shy of the two-billion mark on midday Friday in northern California, where YouTube is based.
The video became a global sensation and fueled a South Korean “K-Pop” trend after it was uploaded to YouTube in July 2012.
Psy’s follow-up song “Gentleman” set the record for the most YouTube views in a single day — 38 million on April 14, 2013.
Only three percent of “Gangnam Style” views at YouTube have been from inside South Korea.
As well as propeling Psy onto the global stage, his horse-riding-style dance moves have been parodied and mimicked in myriad videos uploaded to YouTube.
The “Gangnam” in the title of the hit song is Seoul’s wealthiest residential and shopping district, lined with luxury boutiques, top-end bars, nightclubs and restaurants frequented by celebrities.
Translating the song’s lyrics, which some see as satirizing the area’s self-importance and ostentatious wealth, offers little in the way of concrete insights.
Psy sings about being the “guy who downs boiling coffee in one shot” and who “goes completely crazy when the right time comes.”
The video has Psy breezing through a world of speed boats, yoga classes and exclusive clubs — all the while performing an eccentric horse-riding dance accompanied by beautiful models.

OBA AKINRUNTAN STEALS SHOW AT ROYAL FATHERS’ MEETING WITH JONATHAN

Perhaps unknown to many, there is a difference between being rich and being royally wealthy. That much can be deduced from the life of the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom and Chairman of Obat Oil, Oba Fredrick Akinruntan. And those who were privileged see the royal father in his full royal regalia during a meeting some traditional rulers had with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa recently would attest to this fact.
The monarchs were led to the meeting by the paramount ruler of Mgbirichi/Abakuru land, Eze Akunueze Ahurunkwe II. And as it is customary in the Villa, members of the delegation were driven into the forecourt of the President’s office in a Coaster bus. But on this particular day, there was a slight bent to protocol. Trailing the bus was a red state-of-the-art Bentley 2014 model with customised number plate ‘OLUGBO’.
So, while the other traditional rulers on the delegation collectively rode in the Coaster bus, Oba Akinruntan followed in his wonder-on-wheels. Of course, he got the needed attention as he made his way out of the car after it was strategically parked in front of the Council Chambers while the meeting lasted.
The cameras clicked away at the car, with some people posing with it for photographs.

TOLU ONIRU, TUNDE DEMURIN STILL AN ITEM

The marriage of popular on-air personality, Tolu Oniru, with Captain Tunde Demurin has come under public focus lately. While the rumour mill is abuzz with speculations that their much celebrated relationship is on the brink of collapse, others say that close friends and associates of the couple are doing everything they can to salvage whatever is left of it.
But contrary to the foregoing, Celeb Watch has gathered that the rumoured collapse of their marriage may not be true afterall. Findings by Celeb Watch indicate that the love birds hardly engage in arguments, let alone a quarrel that would cause them to go their separate ways. Captain Tunde, a co-owner of EME Records with Banky W, is reputed for his calm mien, while Tolu’s amiable personality is well known to the public.
Although it took Tolu a while to admit dating Tunde on a television programme, the lovebirds are always together except for the periods that the demands of duty separate them. What is more, both of them are fond of exchanging gifts through the social media as many times as birthday, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, New Year and other social events present the opportunity.
Tolu and Tunde are still very much in love. Indeed, plans are reportedly underway to consummate their relationship before the year runs out.

IS DON JAZZY NIGERIA’S NO 1 ENTERTAINER?

Though he is not fully a musician, but Don Jazzy is more popular than so many musicians. He started out as a music producer and today sings as well and has a music group you could term most powerful in Nigeria’s music industry today.
When Mo’hits parted ways, a lot of people thought it was almost over for him, because the man, D’banj who a lot of people thought made him big had left. But till now, Don Jazzy continues to shine, and it almost seems he is the most respected and followed entertainer in the music industry today.
Did you notice that when Don Jazzy started his Dorobucci slang, it started trending on social media with a lot of people attributing their names to it, and sending in their Doro songs? Just yesterday, he started another trend, ‘Mysleepselfie’ and we have almost lost count of how many people that have joined the train.
What is Don jazzy doing that others aren’t?

KIM MAKES IT OFFICIAL. CHANGES NAME TO KARDASHIAN-WEST

A few days after marrying Kanye West, Kim has changed her name on her Twittter and instagram accounts to Kim Kardashian West. She did so today May 28th.
We recall she refused to change her name to Humphries back in 2011, telling her husband then that the Kardashian name was already a brand and she couldn't drop it or add anything to it. Guess she knew that marriage wasn't going to last. We hope this one does.

GENEVIEVE NNAJI: WHY I’M STILL SINGLE

Celebrated Nollywood actress and mother of one, Genevieve Nnaji, has revealed why she is still single.
She explained that her fear of divorce and her desire to stay married for long were responsible for her decision to be single for now.
In an interview with an online news portal, Naijagist.com, recently, Genevieve, who turned 35 on May 3, said she is afraid of being divorced shortly after taking the marital vow.
“For me, before I choose a partner, I have to ask myself if this is the kind of person I would be willing to forgive, no matter what when the time comes. If the answer is no, then that person is wrong for me. That person is not the person you want to get married to.
“If you know you can look into someone’s eyes and say yes, this is the most you can do to me. If you actually cheat on me the first time, I can find it in my heart to forgive you. If you can answer that question honestly and truthfully to yourself, then you will know if that person is your partner or not.
“I’m born Catholic, I’m raised Catholic, I don’t believe in divorce. If I get married, I really want to stay married and staying married is not an easy thing. It means you are completely in tune with your partner. It means you have found your soul mate because you will have to be able to stand a lot of disappointments that would definitely come but then again you have to learn to forgive.
“As for marriage, it’s every woman’s dream to get married. We can’t lie to ourselves. I do want to get married but over time I have had opportunities to get married but I realise getting married is not actually the problem. The problem is finding somebody you are compatible with.
“So compatibilty is the word, aside from the physical attributes that have to go with it. I need to be comfortable because I am a woman and I’m used to certain lifestyle,”
the screen diva stated in the interview.
