Stakeholders in the Indian film industry, Bollywood, have expressed interest in supporting the government of Kano State towards actualising a film institute for the state at Bagauda.
According to a statement signed and made available to LEADERSHIP by the director of Press and Public Relation to the executive governor of Kano State, Halilu I. Dantiye, the Indian film experts gave the assurance while exchanging views with the state governor, Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso during a meeting in Delhi, the Indian capital.
In the statement, Kwankwaso said the state government is putting necessary infrastructure in place for the successful take-off of the institute, assuring that his administration is ready to work with them to make it the best of its kind in Nigeria.
He expressed optimism that youths in the state, particularly those with interest in the film industry will avail themselves of the opportunity, assuring that the government is willing to support them to exploit their potentials to the fullest.
Meanwhile, some of the 502 students from the state who are being sponsored by Kwankwaso's administration for their postgraduate studies in India also honoured the governor with an award of excellence.
Receiving the award, Kwankwaso, who described education as the cornerstone of his administration's human development agenda, restated determination to make Kano the hub of educated men and women in the nearest future.
He thanked the students for the honour which he said was a morale booster and advised them to continue to be good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria by devoting their time to moral and academic excellence.
The governor also visited medical students from the states who are currently studying at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, Bengaluru, Karnataka, where he expressed satisfaction with their progress so far and praised authorities of the college for their commitment to excellence.
