JAY Z AND BEYONCE BUY CHICAGO THEATRE

Mega star Couple Jay Z and Beyonce have just purchased the old Regal Theatre on 79th street in Chicago, IL for $250,000.
It has been closed for over a year now and after being restored with City TIFF funds, it still needs some additional work. Sources say, the plan is to bring entertainment back to the 2,500 seat venue here in Chicago.
The former owners of the New Regal Theatre, Edward and Bettianne Gardner, closed the theater in 2003 after losing money for several years. In 2008, the building was purchased by a group that included Ron and Regina Evans with the hope of reviving it as a cultural venue.
However, it has seen little use. The site did hold a party to celebrate Barack Obama’s presidential nomination acceptance speech in August 2008.

IYANYA, AYEFELE SING FOR JONATHAN RE-ELECTION: POWER OF MONEY

During the regime of the late military dictator, General Sanni Abacha, he paid some artistes, Shina Peters, Zaki Adzee and others to sing for his transition programme in Abuja, shortly after the man died, people of conscience threw insults at them for selling their conscience. Some apologized, some took it as one of those things while others, till today, faded off.
Now during the time of Goodluck Jonathan, it’s obvious that people are suffering, children are helpless and the constitution of the land has been audaciously violated with impunity; no man in his right thinking would bid for the re-election of GEJ. But it’s so shocking to note that, the likes of Inyaya, the hip hop rave of the moment and Yinka Ayefele, the Juju/gospel singer, despite what is happening in the society, decided to allow to be used, just as in the days of Sanni Abacha, to campaign for the re-election of the incumbent PDP governance.
We just hope that the story will not end as it did in 1993. They both took some time to take a picture at a recent campaign for President Goodluck Jonathan. We hear they might work on a single for him soon. Until then, let’s keep our fingers crossed.

MUSIC COLLABOS: ICE PRINCE FEATURES FOR FREE, OLAMIDE CHARGES N1M

'One man's meat is another's poison,' so says a popular saying. In the music industry worldwide, artistes; both rookies and the established ones, engage one another in their songs in order to achieve different goals.
In Nigeria, the trend is not different. 2Face featured in 9ice's 'Street Credibility' to make it a hit single, Flavour in MI's 'Africa Rapper No1' and many others too many to mention.
In all of these collabos, some charge while others do for free.
News has gone viral that Olamide will henceforth charge N1million to feature in any artiste's song, but the same cannot be said of wave-making rapper, Ice Prince, who announced that he has never charged to be in any artiste's music.
Speaking at the grand finale of the 2013 Star Music Trek recently held at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Ice Prince said, "I have never collected a kobo from any artiste to do a collabo with him. If the song is good, send it to me and I will feature in it."
Some have lambasted Olamide for asking for too much from colleagues of his to feature in their singles.

It’s not often you find couples who are driven by the same motives, sentiments etc but for this two lovebirds, they’ve made it possible Sekinat who gave up everything for Eedris who is always in the middle of controversies and rebellion here and there has over the years been a source of joy to him.
After a couple of years filled with media hostility and failed albums, the troubled artiste and wife, got cause to cheer, come December 14th, as the lovebirds will be celebrating 11 years of being happily married and the marriage is blessed with 4 kids, 2boys and 2 girls.
Eedris once revealed why he believed so much in the institution called marriage.
His words: “Kenny Keke Ogungbe (My Boss) made me realized that if you are not married, you are not a man because you do not have responsibility and I saw it as a challenge that must be conquered as a man”.
Wishing them many more blissful years together!

POOR ACCEPTANCE: “GET ANOTHER JOB OR…”, RUGGED MAN REPLIES MODE 9

Last week’s emotional outburst from rapper Mode 9 “I released an album and nobody cared” has gotten a blunt reply from fellow-rapper Rugged man… ‘Get another job or adapt’ he tells Mode 9.
Rugged Man was speaking on Hot FM’s breakfast radio show and did not mince words. He said “Mode 9 is not the only one that does the non-commercial kind of rap. Basically if you are an entertainer you can’t do music for yourself that’s why you are an entertainer.
‘If people you are made to entertain are not entertained, you should do one of two things…get another job or adapt’ am not saying this to be funny or anything’. If something is not working anymore the least you can do is try and adopt to what’s up’
‘Even in America at a point it was all Eastside …then Westside, you can’t do anything about it, if you can’t shape up, you shape out’
‘I actually started writing ‘ehen’ song in English but Paul Play advised me ‘you are in Nigeria, make music for Nigerians, add the local language so people could understand, I put a little comedy to it by bringing in Normoloss,
‘It’s not about how good you are but how smart you are. I have said it ‘I don’t want to be ‘he can rap kinda artist’ but ‘to be a successful artist’. ‘Switching your style doesn’t make you any less of a human cos at the end of the day ‘what you have achieved is what would be asked.
Mode 9 had recently lamented the neglect of his type of non commercial rap saying that He dropped an album ‘alphabetical order’ earlier this year and no one cared.
