NEW ZENIT BOSS AVB TARGETS RUSSIAN LEAGUE TITLE

Andres Villas Boas (AVB) says he targets the Russian championship after he was unveiled as Zenit St Petersburg manager on Thursday.
The Russian club, who lost 5-4 on aggregate to Borussia Dortmund, out of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, announced the appointment of the former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss as their new head coach on Tuesday.
The Portuguese tactician has now officially penned down a new deal, which runs from March 2014 all through to the end of the next two seasons, with the Russian giants.
“I was delighted to accept the offer to coach Zenit because the club is as ambitious as I am,” said AVB.
“I hope to have a lot of success with the team and my first aim is to win the Russian championship. I am sure we have what it takes to win our remaining nine matches and become champions.”
He succeeds caretaker coach Sergey Semak, whose short spell at the club sees them sit second on the Russian League table, three points behind leaders Lokomotiv Moscow with 41 points.
Zenit secured a rare 2-1 win at the Signa Iduna Park in the return leg of the Champions League second round tie with Dortmund on Wednesday but failed to advance as a result of an inferior goal aggregate.
“I watched Zenit`s game yesterday, and I saw the passion in the team`s play,” AVB added. “I hope now to impart my knowledge to the players, and together we will succeed, especially in the league this season, as well as in the future.”

JOHN LEGEND SAYS HE HAS DISAGREEMENTS WITH KANYE WEST

The 35-year-old singer-songwriter has worked with his producer Kanye West on all four of his albums and claims they constantly argue over what would work best and says he’s sometimes forced to go against the rapper’s wishes.
He said: ‘We always have differences of opinion.’
‘We try to get to a place where we agree on a song, but occasionally I put something on that I love and Kanye isn’t too fond of.’
The ‘All of me’ hitmaker admitted however that he thinks people are too quick to judge the ‘Yeezus‘ star who is engaged to Kim Kardashian and is often criticised for his public rants.
John told the Daily Star newspaper: ‘He is so honest that people think there must be something else behind it, but it’s just him telling the truth as he sees it.’
‘We place a premium on being polite, but it’s not the most necessary thing.’
‘If you look at what Kanye says and does, it might upset our sense of politeness, but has he ever actually hurt anybody? No.’

NIGERIA LISTED 2ND ON WORLD’S LEAST SEXUALLY ACTIVE COUNTRIES [SEE FULL LIST]

For a country that boasts a high population growth rate and is expected to hit 300 million by the second half of this century, Nigeria, curiously, has been rated second on the list of least-sexually active countries in the world, second only to Japan.
Latest data released by Richest.com has shown that only 15 per cent of Japanese are happy with their sex lives – perhaps unsurprising, given how little of it they’re having. Another shocking statistics shows that around 45 per cent of women in Japan report that they are uninterested in – or despise – sexual contact.
In the case of Nigeria the survey states: “…what’s interesting about Nigeria is that not only are they having sex about as frequently as those in the United States, but their satisfaction rate is at 67 per cent.”
Comments on other countries were as follows:
· America: “…this is an interesting number, given how sexualised the media is in the States. In an age where the internet is very influential and porn is generally seen to be rampant in the States, it’s perhaps surprising that only 53 per cent of Americans are having sex weekly.”
· United Kingdom: “Out of the 55 per cent of the UK residents having sex weekly, only 40 per cent of Britons are satisfied with what they are getting.”
· Canada – “The northern neighbours of the United States are definitely finding other things to do in the winter snow than having sex.”
· Australia – “Over half of the citizens of Australia are having sex every week… In fact, they even have a party dedicated to overcoming religious influence in politics known as the Australian Sex Party.”
· Singapore: “In Singapore, while 62 per cent of the population is having sex weekly, there’s only a 35 per cent satisfaction rate. Ironically – and a common feature on this list – Singapore is one of the countries that have a booming industry when it comes to the sex business.”
· Holland – “In a country where prostitution is not only legal, but also regulated, it might be a bit surprising to see this country on the list (and the satisfaction rate sitting at only 50 per cent).”
· New Zealand – “Over in New Zealand, only 63 per cent of the Kiwis are getting lucky weekly, so perhaps it’s no surprise that only 43 per cent of the country’s citizens report to be satisfied with their sex lives.”
· Thailand – “Many might be surprised that Thailand is featuring here – after all, the country has a very well known reputation for sex tourism. But alas, only 65 per cent of Thailand’s citizens report having sex weekly.”

CRISTIANO RONALDO BEATS MESSI TO TOP GOAL RICH LIST 2014

Cristiano Ronaldo was today named the world’s richest footballer after topping the annual list of players’ net worth compiled by global football media title Goal.com.
The Real Madrid forward just held off Barcelona rival Lionel Messi in the Goal Rich List 2014 with an estimated wealth of €148 million.
Ronaldo has enjoyed a remarkable 12 months in which his value to club and country has been never been more evident.
He scored all four goals as Portugal beat Sweden in the World Cup play-offs, landed the 2013 Ballon d’Or and signed a record-breaking new five-year deal with Madrid.
Messi, who lost his Ballon d’Or crown to Ronaldo in January, came in second after inspiring Barcelona to the Spanish title and signing up for a range of lucrative endorsements.
The Goal Rich List is collated by a team of analysts and takes into account all streams of revenue for active footballers over the course of their careers.
Ronaldo succeeds David Beckham who led the way in the 2013 Goal Rich List but called time on his playing career in May 2013.
Only current professionals are eligible with the earnings of more than 200 contenders assessed before Goal’s experts finalised on their selection.
Wayne Rooney makes the top four on the list following Manchester United’s decision to offer him the biggest contract in British football history, worth €365,000 a week.
Neymar’s controversial transfer to Barcelona sees him rise sharply in the standings to sixth, with his parents’ €40m ‘compensation’ payment included in Goal’s figures due to its game-changing significance.
The rest of the list is made up of global superstars, who have accrued huge wealth over significant spells at the top of the professional game.
Chelsea’s Samuel Eto’o is at number three, ahead of Rooney, thanks largely to the millions he earned at Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, with Kaka, Ronaldinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gianluigi Buffon and Thierry Henry completing the top 10.

#BELIEVEITORNOT: THIS TEACHER IS DIVORCING HIS WIFE BECAUSE THEY’RE TOO RICH (PICTURED)

Most people in the world dream of a day when they can become filthy rich and wave their financial troubles away.
That is however not the case of former teacher, Tony Hawken who says he is tired of being rich.
57-year-old Hawken is divorcing his billionaire wife, Xiu Li, 51, because he years for a simpler life.
Daily Mail reports:
The couple were catapulted into the world of the super-rich after Li’s idea of building shopping centres in disused Chinese air-raid shelters earned her an estimated £1.1billion by 2011 and placed her on The Sunday Times Rich List.
Tony Hawken, 57, is divorcing his wife Xiu Li, 51, Britain’s wealthiest woman entrepreneur, because he says he doesn’t like being rich and is ‘not in the habit’ of spending lots of money
The pair traded up their semi-detached home in South Norwood, London, and bought a £1.5million house in Surrey.
Li, who is now worth $1.2billion (£700million) according to Forbes, quickly settled into a life which included sipping a £900 bottle of wine on a luxurious yacht.
However, Mr Hawken says he felt more comfortable getting lunch in his local Wetherspoon’s.
Despite his sudden wealth he continued to buy books from charity shops, and shunned designer clothes.
Now the couple have decided to part, Mr Hawken will walk away with just £1million, but says it will be enough for him.

SHAKIRA’S BOYFRIEND, GERARD PIQUE, WON’T LET HER COLLABORATE WITH MALE SINGERS

Colombian diva, Shakira has revealed how much of a hold her boyfriend, Gerard Pique, has on her. FC Barcelona may be having a not-so-good season on the pitch (given their lofty standards) since the turn of the year, but that wouldn’t stop Gerard Pique from deciding who his girlfriend collaborates with in music videos.
Shakira says her longtime boyfriend and father of her child, Pique, has stopped her from starring in music videos with members of the opposite sex. Shakira’s rising career path has seen her do music videos with the likes of Wyclef and Pitbull in the past. But don’t expect to see Shakira wriggling her waist before another male any time soon.
“He’s very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women,” she says, referring to her steamy “Can’t Remember to Forget You” collaboration with Rihanna. “It’s more than implied in our relationship that I can’t do videos like I used to,” the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ crooner confessed to celebuzz.com.
Shakira says that protective hold of her from Pique is something she does appreciate; “It’s out of the question which I like, by the way,” she says. “I like that he protects his turf and he values me, in a way that the only person that he would ever let graze my thigh would be Rihanna.”
Whoever thought center back Gerard Pique would be that jealous?

MOURINHO REACTS TO ETO’O'S OLD MAN CELEBRATION, CONFIRMS HE WILL NOT ATTEND STRIKER’S 33RD BIRTHDAY

Samuel Eto’o showed he bears no hard feelings to Jose Mourinho over the Chelsea’s boss’s jibes about his age with a goal celebration mocking his OAP status.
Mourinho was caught on camera recently suggesting Eto’o was 35 rather than his stated age of 32, but the Cameroon striker looked like a teenager as he raced on to Jan Vertonghen’s disastrous back-pass to put Chelsea ahead against Spurs in the 56th minute of their 4-0 win on Sunday.
And his goal celebration — walking like a hunched old man to lean on a corner flag, feeling his back — brought a smile to his team-mates and Mourinho.
‘I didn’t suggest the celebration but I knew about it,’ laughed the manager afterwards.
‘We thought it was good because the best way to defuse the situation is to make fun of it.’
Eto’o celebrates his 33rd birthday on Monday but Mourinho will not be joining in. ‘The players are not training on Sunday and Monday so I suppose Samuel will celebrate with his family,’ he said.

BIZARRE: MEET THE MAN WHO HAS DISMANTLED AND ATE AN AIRCRAFT, YES, AN AIRCRAFT [LOOK]

Michel Lotito (born June 15, 1950) is a French entertainer. Lotito, who was born in Grenoble, is famous as the consumer of undigestables, and is known as Monsieur Mangetout (Mister Eat-it-all).
Lotito’s performances are the consumption of metal, glass, rubber and so on in items such as bicycles, televisions, a Cessna 150, and smaller items which are disassembled, cut-up and swallowed. The aircraft took roughly two years to be ‘eaten’ from 1978 to 1980.
He began eating unusual material while a child and has been performing publicly since 1966. Lotito does not often suffer from ill-effects due to his diet, even after the consumption of materials usually considered poisonous.

When performing he consumes around a kilogram of material daily, preceding it with mineral oil and drinking considerable quantities of water during the ‘meal’.
He apparently possesses a stomach and intestine with walls of twice the expected thickness, and his digestive acids are, allegedly, unusually powerful, allowing him to digest a certain portion of his metallic meals.

‘I AM A SHATTERED MOTHER’, AISHA FALODE SAYS IN TRIBUTE TO LATE SON

Ace Broadcaster, Aisha Falode, says she is devastated, pained and shattered by the death of Toba, her 19-year-old son.
Toba was reported to have died after he was pushed off a 17 storey building by an Arab male in Dubai, UAE, where he was schooling.
Speaking at the funeral service held on Monday, March 3, 2014, at the Trinity House, Victoria Island, she paid a powerful, emotion-laden tribute to her deceased son.
‘My son, the curtain fell too early for you, for us. I am in the audience; I cannot jump on stage where you are. Even if I could, the curtain is drawn already. I cannot reach you. I am tempted to say why me, but why not me? God loves us. He took my bundle of joy; even now I lean on HIM.’
She would also reveal via the tribute that she had yearned to have a male-child before eventually giving birth to him, saying, ‘I had looked forward to having my own son. I carried you with pride and honour in my womb for 9 good months. Knowing you will eventually be born made the discomforts of 9 months seem like chewing a candy bar.’
The late Toba was a budding rapper who went by the stage name ‘Tyler Fray’.

FIFA AUTHORIZE VEILS, TURBANS DURING MATCHES AFTER PROTEST

FIFA on 1st of March has officially authorised the use of head covers for religious reasons during football matches for both male and female. It concluded yesterday after a two-year trial proved that ‘wearing of head covers while playing competitive football posed too great a risk of injury to the head or neck’ as suggested by FIFA officials in 2012, proved not to be true. Iran’s women team protested for not being allowed to wear head scarves and withdrew from an Olympic qualification match against Jordan in 2011 while Canada also asked for the ban of head scarves and turbans to be lifted that same year. The decision was concluded yesterday in Zurich after international Football Association Board members met.
The secretary general of FIFA, Jarome Valcke said: “It was decided that female players can cover their heads to play. Male players can play with head covers too. It will be a basic head cover and the colour should be the same as the team jersey” he said. The change will come into effect from June 1, 2014.

MY FATHER WANTS ME TO MINE GOLD — ABIMBOLA FERNANDEZ

BackgroundI was born in Neuilly-Sur-Seine, Paris, France. My family lived in France. A few years later, we moved to New York when my father took up his post: first, as an Ambassador to Mozambique, then, Equitorial Guinea, and Central African Republic, where he was also Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. As a family, we had our traditions. We would spend every summer on our 150 foot headship yacht, Yemoja. Every vacation, we travelled to somewhere new aboard my father’s plane. Every Sunday, my parents would have our chef prepare canapés and cocktails and they would sit and listen to my sister play her harp. I played violin. As children, we travelled all over Africa and the world. We visited all the countries my father represented. We were sheltered as children and we really didn’t face many challenges, apart from sifting through the vultures and vacuums.

ParentsMy father is the most amazing man alive. He did everything for his family. My mother was his Queen and my sister and I were his little princesses. He gave us everything and so much more. If you try to attack him, he will bite, but behind closed doors, he is loving. I had the most incredible mother and she was very well educated, extremely elegant and breathtakingly beautiful. Due to my family’s choice to keep our business so private, I’ve had quite a ‘normal’ life to a certain extent. We weren’t in the papers or magazines until my parents divorced.

WealthOur parents don’t just hand us money. I was writing songs on my guitar everyday, which I’m still doing. Like most people, my father influences all my decisions because I respect him more than anybody in the world. My father has always hoped, to this day, that I’d get into the business of mining gold. He was not pleased at my choice to pursue a career in music. He wanted me to continue my studies at Oxford.

MusicI turned to music during the tough times at school. I started playing violin at the age of four, and guitar at 13. Once I realised the freedom of writing your own music and playing it and fully expressing yourself, it was a done deal. I knew that’s what I wanted to do with my life. I’ve been playing instruments my whole life and singing in the choirs at all my different schools. Now, I’m making it happen with the help of my team. I worked very hard for my record deal on my own. I wrote and recorded songs for years while networking throughout New York City. I finally sat down and sent about 200 emails with my bio, pictures and music. I shopped my own music around and got a deal.

CompetitionI’m not sure I would have an issue coping with other famous people. I just treat them with the respect I expect back. I think being a Nigerian female pop singer, who plays guitar, speaks for itself. There aren’t many of us out there.

Role Model
I love Jimi Hendrix, Courtney Love, Katy Perry, Blink 182. I definitely have mad love for British pop band, McFly; or more so just Dougie. I want the same success as Rihanna, and I want to be with Rihanna. But I don’t want to be like her. We are different people entirely, I’m sure people can appreciate that.

My Country, NigeriaNigeria has a great future and I love to bring my group, Pink Grenade, to Nigeria. I hope I will be back soon.

Style
Style is whatever you are comfortable in. If you feel good, you make it look good. My mother had an extensive wardrobe of all sorts of vintage designer garments. I’d like to take those, alter them to make them more age-appropriate for myself.

PersonalityI’m really shy and I have a big heart. When people meet me, they expect an extremely rude girl but I’m the opposite. I’m an amazing cook. I grew up eating African food and French gourmet-that’s what I cook the best. I also love playing video and I love rollerblading. Most people don’t know that I’m an equestrian. I’ve been in six national horse shows. Every member of my family has their own horse.

BeautyI’ve been blessed with really good skin. If I did have to choose one thing, I will say: don’t wear your make-up to the gym.

HobbiesI can get dolled up in a $10,000 dress and go to a gala or I can just hang out, go to a concert and have a casual drink. What really relaxes me is speaking to my father for hours on the phone.

NIGERIAN CELEBRITIES: FROM FAME TO FATHERHOOD

Gradually, ‘baby mama’ is becoming a syndrome among Nigerian celebrities as many of the men now choose to have children outside wedlock.

Seun Kuti
He had famously declared early in 2013, that he is not getting married anytime in the future because he would not embrace the thought of losing half his earnings. However, he likes being a father.
Afrobeat artist and son of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Seun Kuti and his partner Yetunde George Ademiluyi welcomed a daughter in December last year. The baby’s name ‘Ifafunmike’ means “A child gotten from a deity”.
In a recent interview, 31-year-old Seun talked about the exhilarating experience of fatherhood. “Training your first child is a life experience. It is a lesson in selfless service. You know, babies are strong but they are also quite dependent. You know you have to sacrifice your time, and now I am the one who sacrifices my time all night. “My partner works all day, I work all night. I am in the studio anyway, so I can stay awake all night. Well, it is interesting and my baby is quite peaceful,” he stated.

Wizkid
Despite the fact that he happens to be one of the youngest and busiest fathers on the Nigerian music scene, Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, still has time to spare for his kid, Boluwatife. Mama Emma oo..LOL”

The singer met the Abaga brothers back in Jos in the church choir, where MI was the music director. Jesse Jagz and Ruby have a seven-year old daughter, Jade. Jesse Jagz, a proud and committed father has often talked about his daughter in his songs, most especially on the song entitled This Jagged Life. The couple isn’t dating anymore but those close to them said they remain close friends and are jointly raising the fruit of their union.

Ice Prince
20-year-old Babatunde Bimbo became known in 2012 after she confessed to carrying the child of Nigerian rap star, Ice Prince Zamani. Despite the several denials and rejections that trailed her announcement, the former undergraduate had to drop out of school to keep the pregnancy.
The baby was christened Toluwalase. Ice Prince, who initially distanced himself from mum and child, later admitted in an interview to being the father. In a sudden twist, Ice Prince embraced his child and re-named him Jamal Zamani. The hardworking rapper is gradually introducing the baby to his fans. In an interview last year he explained that he had denied his son because, “It was complicated back then, I didn’t really know what was happening and I wasn’t sure of certain things. So the best I had to do then was deny it and sort out things first. Now I know he is my child and I have done everything as a father ever since,” he said.

ACCORDING TO DBANJ’S MANAGER, HE IS STILL WITH KANYE WEST & GOOD MUSIC

Dbanj’s manager Tony Nwakolor has come out to state that Dbanj is still with G.O.O.D Music and everything floating around are rumors and lies. He confirmed that in a statement made to Punch newspaper when asked about Dbanj and his relationship with Kanye West.
“It is a lie that D’banj has left G.O.O.D music. He changed his bio on his twitter account and people started forming all sorts of story. He is still with Kanye West,” Nwakolor said.
Just a few days ago, Dbanj had taken “G.O.O.D Music” off his social media bios, and many assumed that was the sign of the end. But if he’s still with Kanye West as his manager has claimed, then why take those off your twitter page?

BLEACHING ALLEGATION: I HAVE NEVER BEEN DARK COMPLEXIONED – FOLUKE DARAMOLA

Ever since Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola met her heart-throb, Kayode Salako, whom she married last year, a lot of things have changed about the busty and beautiful actress. Many people have said there is a glow and aura about Foluke now that seem to radiate not only a happy inner self but a personality completely at peace with life.
Of course, love, they say is a wonderful thing, as Foluke has told anyone who cares to listen “he has made me a contented and complete woman” but people are quick to point out that it is not only her demeanour that has changed they allege that the actress has been bleaching her skin to maintain her beauty to remain attractive to her activist husband.
When we asked Foluke if there is any truth in the allegation that she has been bleaching her skin to remain attractive to the husband. Hear her: “I don’t know where that is coming from, I have never been a dark complexioned person from time and also, I would never do anything that would be detrimental to my health for anything.
Besides, I am a very beautiful woman from time, so I don’t know what bleaching would add to me. If I send my graduation picture that I took 13 years ago when I graduated from Ife to you and the one I took when I graduated from UNILAG four years ago, it’s still my same fair self, so maybe photoshop is doing something to the minds and sight of the people talking.

KCEE ON FIRE: EBUBE THINKS I’M BEHIND THE RUMOURS

Limpopo crooner, Kcee, isn’t a pleasant customer to run into, right now. The singer is as much in a foul mood as a bear with a boil. Ever since the rumour went viral that his old flame, Nollywood actress, Ebube Nwagbo had moved into his Lekki residence, he has been looking forward to having a word with someone and encounter on Thursday was anything but friendly.
‘’Personally, I don’t have anything to lose by these rumours. I just feel for Ebube. She keeps crying, telling people that I’m the one spoiling her name, because she believes I’m behind the rumours. But it’s not me, I don’t have to spoil anyone’s name. Her mother even called me, crying, telling me to let her daughter be. They think I’m the one sponsoring all the rumours, but why should I do that? I know someone is behind all this. All these things they say are false, it’s not nice. In fact, I just spoke with my wife, she just left the country last week. She’s not based in Nigeria”.
He revealed that he never moved into any home at Chevron Estate, Lekki, with Ebube Nwagbo. “Now they’ve said Ebube moved into my house at Lekki. But here I am at Omole, thank God you met me here. So it’s not fair, journalists and bloggers should stop destroying people’s images with the kind of stories they write” he thundered angrily.
