RIHANNA FILES LAWSUIT AGAINST FORMER ACCOUNTANT FOR MAKING HER ALMOST GO BANKRUPT

Rihanna may have turned into a bit of a wild child in the past few years, but that doesn’t mean she’s ignoring her finances.
TMZ reports that the “Diamonds” singer has claimed that in 2009, her former accountant grossly mismanaged her money, causing her to become “effectively bankrupt” in just one year’s time.
Rihanna has reportedly filed new legal documents stating that she had $11 million in cash at the beginning of 2009, but that due to poor handling of her finances, she was left with only $2 million, and significantly higher expenses, by the end of the year. The accountant allegedly failed to inform the singer that her 2009 Last Girl on Earth tour was losing money and then irresponsibly okayed her request to purchase a house that cost $7 to 7.5 million.
In 2012, Rihanna filed a lawsuit against her former accounting firm for its alleged mismanagement of her finances; this latest letter is said to have been filed in connection to that suit.
Before you start passing around the collection jar for the 25-year-old Barbadian singer, know she’s made quite the comeback since 2009. Forbes estimates that she made $43 million in 2013 alone, and net-worth calculating site TheRichest estimates that she is worth $85 million.

U2 TO PLAY MANDELA SONG AT OSCARS

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Irish rock veterans U2 will play their Oscar-nominated song “Ordinary Love” from the movie “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” at this year’s Academy Awards, organizers announced Wednesday.
The March 2 performance at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood will be the first time U2 has played the song live, said Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, producers of the 86th Academy Awards.
The tune is among four nominees for best original song along with “Happy” from “Despicable Me 2,” “Let It Go” from Disney’s animated “Frozen” and “The Moon Song” from futuristic love story “Her.”
The Academy had already announced that Tony-winning singer and actress Idina Menzel will sing “Let It Go” from “Frozen” — the frontrunner for best animated feature — at next month’s awards ceremony.
A fifth song was originally nominated. But “Alone Not Yet Alone” from a low-budget film of the same name, was pulled because its author, an Academy member, had emailed voters about his tune, breaching the prestigious body’s strict rules.
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will host this year’s Oscars show, which is a week later than usual, after the Winter Olympics. The Golden Globes were moved two weeks forward, to January 12, to avoid clashing with the Sochi games on television.
The Oscars, the climax of Tinseltown’s annual awards season, are televised live in more than 225 countries and territories around the world.
The theme of this year’s show is movie heroes, whether real-life ones like Gandhi, super heroes like Superman and Batman, or heroic stories such as animated film “The Incredibles” and literary tales like “To Kill a Mockingbird.

TIWA SAVAGE, OLAMIDE, OTHERS FOR TOP TEA VAL’S PARTY

Top artistes including Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Phyno and GT The Guitarman, are set to thrill at the fourth edition of the annual Top Tea’s Valentine Tea Fiesta.
According to Omotoye Benson of Motbensonz Solutions, the event organisers, the Tea Party Fiesta would be held in Lagos and Port Harcourt during the Valentine period. The first show would hold in Lagos on Valentine’s Day, 14 February at The Place on Admiralty Way, Lekki and in Port Harcourt at Ediz Wine Bar on 16 February.
“Valentine is a period of love and tea is one of the healthiest beverages in the world. So why not party with tea instead of alcohol?” said Benson.
Also commenting, Ub Torsam, the Brand Manager, Top Tea, said Promasider and Top Tea brand realise that since Val’s Day is a time to show love to loved ones and how much they are valued, having a musical show is a way of showing appreciation to their customers.
Other artistes on the line up are Solidstar, Emma Nyra, Yemi Alade and Minjin. The Lagos event will be hosted by Gbemi of Beat FM and Dotun of Cool FM, while the host for the Port Harcourt event is Arinze Baba.
The Valentine Top Tea Party Fiesta started in 2011.

OMOTOLA EKEINDE WARNS BLOGGERS: “DON’T EVER TAG MY TEENAGE DAUGHTERS AS SEXY AND HOT!”

Movie star, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has taken out time to rebuke and warn bloggers who tagged her 14-year-old daughter, Meraiah as ‘sexy and hot’ after the minor posted pictures online as she marked her 14th birthday recently.
Omotola, who rang the warning on her Facebook page, did not hesitate to suggest that any such comments in future over her kids would come with some penalty.

Thank you to everyone who wished Meraiah a happy birthday. However, going to a 14-year-old’s ‘private’ online accounts to post her pictures for public viewing is totally inappropriate. Her father and I are horrified as parents and guardian that a minor’s picture can be paraded online as ‘hot,’ ‘sexy…’
We know the bloggers probably meant no harm, but in a world full of pedophiles and sickos, every adult with morales should know where to draw the line.
I WILL NOT hesitate henceforth use everything within my power to bring ANYONE to justice who does this with any of my under aged kids after ‘this’ first time episode!
Any child under 18 should be protected by us all and if their parents/guardian haven’t given you the okay to publish information especially ‘private’ of their child, doing so, is against the law.

“I AM STILL MARRIED TO SAIDI” – FATHIA BALOGUN RE-ADDRESSES HER CONTROVERSIAL MARITAL ISSUES

Popular Yoruba Actress, Fathia Balogun has disclosed that she is still married to her estranged husband, Saheed Balogun, debunking the claims that they are presently in court.
Fathia stated that they are only separated and not divorced.
The Delta born Actress who played her first role as a Secretary in a Movie titled “Ta lo pa Chief”, disclosed this in a recent interview on Channels TV.
“I am still Fathia Balogun. I am still married to Saheed it’s just that we are separated. Well, we might consider coming back….what God has joined together let no man put asunder, but right now I’m not thinking about it, and I don’t want to talk about it right now” She stated.
She further revealed that she would be going back to school to study English.
“I am going back to school to study English. I need it, especially now that I will be opening a film school. I am a strong struggling African woman, so I need it“
When asked what she does besides acting, the mother of two said “I’m into business, I sell assorted wines and beautiful hair, and I’m going to have my own hair label soon, Fathia hair”
Fathia who recently clocked 45, has produced and appeared in over five films including, ‘Omolara’.

MEET THE 41-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WHO LEGALLY CHANGED HER FIRST NAME TO SEXY (PHOTOS)

A central Ohio woman who loathed being named Sheila and wanted a moniker that reflects her personality has legally changed her first name to Sexy.
A Licking County judge on Tuesday approved the request from the 41-year-old Pataskala (puh-TAS’-kuh-luh) woman formerly named Sheila Ranea Crabtree.
In her application, Crabtree called her given name “the ugliest one out there.” She says that if the court didn’t allow the switch to Sexy, she’d try to become known legally by her middle name, which she has used for years.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that Crabtree told a judge that her husband and teenage daughters approve of the change. When the judge asked why she chose Sexy, Crabtree said she’s fun and free-spirited and thought the change would make her complete.

AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHER CREATES AMAZING GALLERY OF YORUBA ORISHAS (LOOK)

Depicting the beauty and essence of the ‘Orishas’ i.e divinities of the Yoruba culture, in Western Nigeria, the Atlanta-based Photographer created the ‘Orisha’ art exhibition to portray the Yoruba gods through art and illustration. The Yoruba culture, which is one of the largest tribes in Nigeria, has at least 1,700 gods of which 20 are recognized or most famous. Some of these gods are worshiped in their own rights while others are paid tribute through holidays and festivals.
See what he said about his ‘YORUBA ORISHA EXPERIENCE’ exhibition below:

Throughout my formal education from elementary up through college I never heard tale of African deities. A little over a month ago I began to research online to find information in regards to the gods & goddesses of Africa. To my surprise there were many, however the ones that stood out the most were the deities of Nigeria and Benin, West Africa which they referred to as ORISHAS.
This entire belief in the Orishas was directly linked to the Yoruba of the Ifa Tradition.
I wanted to portray the regal beauty of each Orisha while also representing their majestic sensuality. Each iconic depiction was rendered to lend strength to our resilience as a great race of people and to show our youth that they are beautiful, bold and brilliant just they way God created them to be. Although I am aware that the Ifa Tradition traveled in the Ori “Head” of those Blacks that were captured as slaves and sent to other parts of the diaspora, I chose to focus on the true origin of the faith. Therefore each Orisha’s name is written in the Yoruba dialect and captures imagery of powerful men, women & children of various complexions who are all of African descent.
To all critics of my artwork who feel that I have misrepresented, over-sexualized, over-modernized, mis-colorized or overall disrespected the Orishas I would like to draw your attention to my favorite phrase…."INTERPRETATION…MUCH LIKE THE BIBLE IS BASED UPON THE TRANSLATOR". There is no wrong when it comes to an artist’s creative interpretation, one must learn to become fluid with your perception and open up your mind to what the creator of the work is trying to convey. To all of my faithful supporters I would just like to say that I appreciate you more than words could ever express.
In no way, shape or form am I advocating the Ifa tradition, as I myself am not a practitioner of the faith, however I wish to shed light on our rich history in hopes that it will enlighten those who wish to dismiss our culture and heritage as merely rubbish. Present at the naming ceremony were Seun’s siblings, Yeni, Femi, Kunle and Dotun Kuti and close friends, including Keith Richards and Dede Mabiaku.
Giving her speech, Yetunde who was one of Seun Kuti’s back up dancers before they hooked up, said “I am grateful to Seun for always been there. He is my love, my heart, my world. He is our super dad”
You will recall that Seun and Yetunde welcomed their daughter, Oyindamola Ifafunmike Adara Anikulapo-Kuti on the December 14th.

Pop-singer, J Martins and wife have just welcomed their first child, a baby boy.
”Good morning, Congratulations to me because my wife has been delivered of a Bouncing Baby Boy late last night at Gwinnett Medical Center, Atlanta, Georgia. His name Jason, both mother, baby and father are fine and in good condition. Join us and thank God”. J Martins announced some hours ago.
Jason was delivered at the Gwinnett Medical Center, 1000, Medical Center Blvd, Lawrenceville, GA 30046, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
The boy’s birth came at exactly 9 months after his parent’s nuptial ceremony which happened on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Protea Hotel ,Oakwood, Lekki. It was a private party for the couple that had about 200 of their friends, colleagues and family members in attendance.
Report says baby, his mom and even the dad are all doing very well.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC SET TO MARRY LONGTIME GIRLFRIEND

World number two tennis player, Novak Djokovic has told his fiancee and longtime girlfriend, Jelena Ristic that he would marry her soon.
On Monday, the No. 2-ranked tennis player and six-time major champion told Ristic during a Serbian television talk show: “Jelena, enjoy it while you can. In a couple of months you will be changing your last name to Djokovic.” Ristic was shown smiling.
The two have been together for more than eight years. Ristic has been running Djokovic’s humanitarian aid organization.
Djokovic is resting up in Serbia after losing in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
