“RONALDO IS ANGRY TO BE PLAYING IN MESSI’S ERA” – RONALDINHO
Cristiano Ronaldo is enraged to be living in the same era as Lionel Messi, according to former Barcelona star Ronaldinho.
The attacking duo are once again amongst the favourites for the Ballon d’Or thanks to their exceptional form in the past year, and both scooped awards at the annual LFP gala on Monday as La Liga’s finest players of 2012-13 were honoured.
However, Messi – who picked up the LFP player of the year prize for the fifth successive season – has beaten Ronaldo to the last four Ballons d’Or awards, and his former team-mate Ronaldinho believes this is a genuine frustration for the Real Madrid sensation.
“Cristiano Ronaldo’s rage is to live in the same era as Messi,” he told TV program Bem, Amigos!
Ronaldinho went on to affirm that compatriot Neymar would become the world’s best player in future, suggesting Messi will help him develop in much the same way he aided the Argentine.
“Deco, Sylvinho and I always gave passes to Leo so he could adapt as soon as possible. He will do the same for Neymar,” he continued.
“He has it all and he will become the best player in the world in the coming years, but only when Messi is not at his peak.”
Ronaldinho is currently preparing for the Club World Cup with Copa Libertadores champions Atletico Mineiro, and the Brazil international believes his side could have the advantage over Champions League holders and favourites Bayern Munich.
“We arrive on equal terms, in order to reach the final. We won’t change anything. It’s the way we play,” he said.
“Players in Europe don’t follow Brazilian football and that can be an advantage for us.”
Ronaldinho did, however, point to the meticulous preparations of Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, claiming the Spaniard’s knowledge of the Brazilian game will be important to his side’s chances.
“The Bayern coach knows a lot about football in Brazil. He brought several players from here and he will bring videos and information in abundance,” he added.

SAHEED BALOGUN DENIES SUING EX-WIFE
In response to recent rumours that he took his former wife to court over the use of his name, Nollywood actor, Saheed Balogun, has released a statement denying the reports. The actor said an interview he granted was taken out of context and misused.
In his statement, Saheed said he did not appreciate the false stories circulating and that he would appreciate his private life being left alone.
According to the statement, “If a “news story” begins with the phrase ‘according to unconfirmed reports’ and the affected stakeholders did not confirm such reports, is the story really newsworthy?
“Punch called me about a personal issue (about a previous marriage) that I have no knowledge of. My response to them is the same response I have said times without number to all unconfirmed, untrue and other rubbish stories of the like: I, Saidi Balogun, am focusing on my work. I am married to my work and my work is all I know.
“When I told this to Punch, they at least printed what I said. But, they used a completely different headline that has no basis in fact, which they admitted to themselves via their failed effort to provide evidence or confirmation of the rumour.”
“One “second-hand blogger” not only copied and pasted the story, but added their own elaboration equally as unconfirmed and unrooted in fact as the original article. This unfair, biased, and disgraceful style of the bloggers, who think they are journalists has affected me in the past.
“I premiered ‘You Or I’ on July 7th, 2013 and the same blogger said I was getting married that day. When July 7th came around, countless dignitaries including a Governor and foreign visitors showed the whole world I indeed did a premiere by honouring my invitation.
“Abeg o, as Saidi Balogun, keep my personal life which you know nothing about out of the public eye and concentrate on the work I do that and many credible people respect me for.”

SOUTH AFRICAN MEN POSE ON MAGAZINE COVER WEARING HIGH HEELS
A South African Magazine, Blaque, published an issue back in August entitled ‘Men in Heels: Understanding A (Wo)man Better’, that features men wearing women’s shoes in order to celebrate ‘Women’s month’.
Several anti-gay groups are calling the action gay but there is no indication that the men are actually homosexual.
Homosexuality is frowned upon in Africa, and in Nigeria it carries a prison sentence of 14 years.

“I AM OLDER THAN HIM” SEGUN ARINZE’S EX WIFE, ANN NJEMANZE, TALKS ABOUT HER NEW HUSBAND
Segun Arinze’s ex wife and Nollywood actress Ann Njemanze (Domitilla) recently got married to a certain Silver Ojieson who is a lecturer. In a new interview with Leadership Newspaper, she talked about him, her new marriage and ex-husband Segun Arinze.
Excerpts:
What really happened in your previous marriage?I cannot tell what exactly happened but you see I remember when I was still in secondary school, I use to gather my friends in Gboko Benue State telling them that my bed will be made of iron and look like the ones we see in magazines and what have you. I had a queen thing in my head. But my ex was a lot older. He did not really give me all those sweet things that I fantasized about. I left my ex-lover because of the differences we had, at a time I found out I could not continue with the relationship so I had to opt out.
Your husband seems so young and fresh, he’s younger than you are obviously?Ah, yes he is, with few years. My husband and I do not share up to 5 years difference and he is not bothered about it.
Has he ever been married before? No, he’s never been married, no way. This is his last marriage in Jesus name. He is the only son of his parents too from Edo State.
Do you regret your first marriage?
Regret it? My daughter is taller and finer than I am. She is the head girl of her school. In less than 2 weeks, she is going for a photo shoot. At 16, she has started earning money. She is writing for a magazine and you ask if I regret it? I thank him (Segun Arinze)!! Without him I would not have met my Silver.
Are you not afraid that your marriage might crash again? No! I reject it. We have our differences, just like other couples do, but it is not enough to say, we no do again. Before we got married, we told ourselves that divorce and separation are no option.

"NIGERIAN ACTORS NEVER FANCIED ME" - BOASTS ACTRESS CHIOMA TOPLIS
British-Nigerian Nollywood actress, Chioma Toplis, has a shocker for her male counterparts in the local film industry; 'they were never attracted to me'.
Chioma, happily married and up-and-doing by every standard, was quoted to have said recently that she never fancied dating any actor while she plied her trade regularly at home. The Umuahia, Abia State born thespian is, perhaps, the only Nigerian actress who has shown the guts to challenge Nollywood male actors to their renowned game of peeping at skirts of every new and beautiful actress.
The English Language graduate began her film trade in 2004 via a home video entitled Stolen Bible but she didn't get the desired break until 2005 when she became a household name featuring in Trinity, another blockbuster that sold out.
Interestingly, Chioma combined running personal businesses with acting owning large clothing and cosmetics shops in Lagos, Nigeria and the UK. Besides, the 41 years old mother of 3 is also said to own properties in choice areas of London.

REVEALED! THE RECORDING DEAL THAT RESCUED AMERICAN RAPPER WALE'S FAMILY FROM POVERTY
Visiting US hip-hop kid, Wale, no doubt, is now a happy young man having realized his age-long dream to assist his parents return to their fatherland after a long sojourn abroad.
Before his open confession two weeks back that he, indeed, longed to visit his homeland Nigeria but for lack of financial will by his parents, many had concluded that the 29 years old was bedeviled with the White mentality and may never visit Nigeria.
But many did not know that a 2006 recording deal actually saved Wale's family from rotting in poverty perpetually. The rapper himself stated publicly during his visit that 'I grew up poor', adding that 'though I had longed to visit Nigeria with my parents since I was 15, little could we do with a $20,000 annual income from which you had to pick every bill including paying high school fees, and things were really very tight...
Wale's poor parents moved in 1979 from Austria to the US in search of greener pastures.
Born Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, Wale who is now signed on rapper Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group did make his opening fortune when he met producer Mark Ronson who in 2007 signed him on Allido Records. He was later signed for a $1.3 million deal on Interscope Records.
He made his first signature with 'Dig Dug (Shake It) in 2006.
'Attention Deficit', Wale's debut album, did not make much impact but luckily was nudged by three successive singles; 'Chillin', 'Pretty Girls' and 'World Tour'.
Indeed, it was a sweet homecoming for an homeboy.

MILEY CYRUS WAS THE MOST-SEARCHED TERM ON YAHOO IN 2013
TIME Entertainment Denver Nicks reports that Miley Cyrus was the most-searched term on Yahoo in 2013, the first time a human has taken the top spot since Michael Jackson in 2009.
His report said, Kim Kardashian and Kate Upton took the second and third spots among Yahoo’s overall top searches, the company said Tuesday, while Barack Obama was Yahoo’s most-searched political figure, followed by Nelson Mandela.
“Other political figures to make the top 10 include Hillary Clinton, whose potential as a presidential candidate has stirred interest in recent months, and tea party lightning rod Ted Cruz, a conservative leader during the government shutdown earlier this year.”
Yahoo’s top “obsession” in 2013, which combines the volume of searches with how fast the term rose in popularity, was the backwoods TV blockbuster Duck Dynasty. The top “Why” question of the year was “Why only 6 jurors in Zimmerman trial,” though at least one old classic held its own, coming in at No. 4: “Why is the sky blue?”

OFFICIAL WORLD CUP BALL UNVEILED IN BRAZIL
The official ball to be used at next summer’s World Cup, the “Brazuca”, has been unveiled in Rio de Janeiro.
First to show off their skills with the new ball in a ceremony at a park in the south of the city were former Brazilian skipper Cafu and Dutchman Clarence Seedorf, currently playing with Rio side Botafogo, and Brazilian Hernane of city rivals Flamengo.
“The ball is 100 percent Brazilian, it’s fantastic. It is a beautiful ball and really has all the characteristics and colours of Brazil,” Cafu told the Globosporte website.
“I hope that it will be lucky for the Selecao (Brazil team),” he added.
The ball, weighing 437 grammes, underwent two and half years of testing by 600 players and 30 teams throughout the world.
The name “Brazuca” was decided in September 2012 after an internet-based opinion poll of Brazilian football fans.
It beat off opposition from “Bossa Nova” and “Carvanalesca”.
It takes over from “Jabulani”, the official ball of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

TOYOTA REDESIGNS CAMRY FOR 2014
Toyota Camry is expected to get ‘significant’ attention from enthusiasts of new cars and other auto stakeholders in 2014 when a refreshed version of the vehicle is introduced.
Analysts say the Japanese auto manufacturing giant is likely to shrug off mounting competition from Ford, Chevrolet, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda and Nissan with the 2014 Camry.
A report by Allcars 2014 says the new Camry will bring many improvements and enhancements that will make the model more spacious and functional but retaining its modern and luxurious touch.
The Group Vice-President, Toyota US, Bill Fay, had told Bloomberg during last week’s LA Auto Show, adding, “We’ll be paying significant attention to Camry next year.”
Fay was not willing to offer hints about what that “attention” would yield, but with a new Hyundai Sonata debuting in New York and increased production of the strong-selling Fusion both on the horizon.
The Camry is one of the crowd pullers in Nigeria, recording high sales, almost coming after its sibling, the Corolla.
“We can think of some things that would help the Camry – more luxury features and technology along with a more fashionable exterior, to name a few,” the report stated.
The refreshed version of the Camry sedan will be coming about two years after it was fully redesigned,” says another online auto reviewer, autoblog.
It quoted a Tuesday report from Bloomberg as saying Toyota’s move to freshen the still young Camry comes as it seeks to retain its United States sales crown in the midsize segment.
The new Toyota Camry, according to Toyota, will keep its simplicity, but the novelty will be seen in the redesigned, highlighted headlights, fog lights, Firefox trim, lower-body design and firmly curved front door.
In addition to being more spacious than its predecessor, the 2014 Toyota Camry has been refreshed with new materials in the interior such as the doors, instrument panel, trim, armrest and the centre console.

SHUGA SERIES BERTHS IN NIGERIA
Nigerian playwright, novelist and film director, Biyi Bandele, the Director-General, NACA, Prof. John Idoko, and a host of celebrities were among the people who welcomed the season three of the television drama series titled, Shuga, to Nigeria during the week.
Produced by MTV Base and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, in collaboration with the National Agency for the Control of AIDs, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and United Nations Population Fund, the award-winning TV series was premiered at the Silverbird Galleria in Lagos on Tuesday.
The production, which had it first two editions set in Nairobi, Kenya, is also a multimedia campaign designed to tackle the lack of awareness and misinformation about HIV/AIDS, sexual responsibility and teen pregnancy among Nigerian youth.
Written by a team of seasoned scriptwriters and directed by Bandele, Shuga featured a talented cast brimming with youth, passion and experience. They include Okezie Morro, Ikubese Emmanuel Ifeanyichukwu, Maria Okanrende, Nick Mutuma, Dorcas Shola Fapson, Leonora Okine, Sharon Ezeamaka, Timini Egbuson, Kachi Nnochiri, Olumide Oworu, Sani Mu’azu and KC Ejelonu. It also featured notable names such as Tiwa Savage and Chris Attoh. Ice Prince and Iyanya also made cameo appearances in the series.
At the end of the event, the audience gave the cast a well-deserved ovation.
Beyond entertainment, Bandele hoped that the Nigerian edition of the series would get people talking about the real issues surrounding the HIV/AIDS scourge.
“There are millions of people living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria. But when you talk to the average Nigerian, they say, ‘Oh, we don’t have that problem here’. They seem not to realise this figure actually represents a lot of people. People don’t want to talk about HIV/AIDS because it means talking about sex in a serious and not jocular way. But we need to do that. It is a scourge that is stoppable, I hope Shuga goes some way to start that process,” Bandele said.
For Georgia Arnold, Executive Director, MTV Staying Alive Foundation, Shuga is more about the message than the entertainment. “It’s about good and safe sexual health practices. There are so many different elements to it, including messages around domestic violence. What we have done with Shuga is to give the audience information, it’s up to them to choose how they live their lives and respond to it,” she said.
According to Arnold, the series, which will be broadcast to 52 territories in sub-Saharan African on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) is expected to reach nearly 550 million households around the world via over 60 broadcast channels and 12 online video on demand websites.
“We hope it will make a huge impact in Nigeria and around the world. We are also working with the Nigerian government, through NACA, in achieving this when the broadcast kicks off,” she added.
Iyanya, who played a cameo role, said the series would reach out to the youths in this generations. While up-and-coming actor Oworu, who played the role of Weki in the series, described his role as challenging and a good learning experience. “It made me realise the alarming rate of HIV and the fact that there is no need for the stigma,” he said. The theme song for the series, Sweet Like Shuga, was written and produced by Del B, in collaboration with Nigerian artistes Flavour, Sound Sultan, Chidinma, Kcee and South African kwaito star, Professor.

“I’M THE ONE WHO WILL DECIDE YOUR FUTURE” – MOURINHO WARNS LUKAKU
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho continued his spat with on-loan Everton striker Romelu Lukaku in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
Mourinho and Lukaku have been firing verbal volleys back and forth for the past week, casting the big Belgian’s future at Stamford Bridge in doubt.
Lukaku on Saturday said was considering staying at Everton for another season, but Mourinho hit back ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Sunderland on Wednesday night, insisting the decision will be solely his.
When asked about Lukaku’s comments, the Portuguese said: ‘Maybe there is a new rule in football where when the season finishes every player is able to decide their own future.’
Mourinho’s dismissive comments are the latest twist in a war of words between player and manager.
