FLOYD MAYWEATHER PAYS OVER $50K TO SERVICE HIS $1.5M BUGATTI VEYRON

Retired super rich boxer Floyd Mayweather recently paid $50,000 to service his $1.5m Bugatti Veyron. TMZ reports that the repair was done by Nigerian Obi Okeke, who revealed how much it cost to service the luxury sports car.

"The breakdown: Four (4) 2015 Bugatti tires cost $33k, Basic service (oil & fluid changes) cost $23k and then to top it off, a $3k detailing service."

Obi Okeke also claimed that he had to start an entirely separate company to service Floyd's cars because he has to move them around for service so often.

What began as a bid to cover up a nasty skin condition has resulted in a Guinness World Record for an American who has been named the most tattooed woman in the world. Julia Gnuse also known as the 'illustrated lady' has 95% of her body covered in ink, ranging from jungle scenes and cartoons to her favorite actors.

Gnuse started getting tattoos after developing a rare medical condition known as porphyria, which caused her skin to blister when exposed to sunlight and left scars as deep as three-degree burn. Miss Gnuse said there was medication available for her condition, but taking it could have the side effect of possible blindness. Thus she resorted to the body art -- although the ink did not stop her skin from blistering, it covered up the scars and allowed her to be exposed to the sun.

NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE IMPOUNDS 24,273 CARTONS OF SMUGGLED POULTRY PRODUCTS WORTH OVER N256M

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘C’, Owerri recently seized a total of 24,273 cartons of imported frozen poultry products, valued at N256,264,200. In a press statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the Unit, Onuigbo Ifeoma, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Haruna Mamudu said that the items which were cleverly and deceitfully concealed in a Scania truck with an inscription ‘DHL’ were seized on the Benin axis in Edo State. NATIONAL THEATRE IN TOTAL DARKNESS OVER UNPAID N9M DEBT

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EKEDC) on Sunday said electricity supply to the National Arts Theatre in Lagos was disconnected because its management failed to pay over N9 million debt.

Idemudia Godwin, General Manger, Media Communications of EKEDC, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the complex was disconnected after several appeals and demand notices went unheeded.

According to him, the debt is an accumulation of unpaid bills over time.
“We don’t disconnect without serving notice.

“Besides, we recently ran a newspaper advertisement informing all ministries, departments and parastatal agencies (MDAs)of government that were indebted to EKEDC of our intention to disconnect them.

“We have commenced disconnection of all historic debtors that include: residential, commercial, industrial and government establishments within our network,’’ he said.

The EKEDC spokesman said that the astronomical indebtedness by some customers was taking its toll on the company.
This had seriously been impacting negatively on the entire value chain in the power sector equation, he said.

According to him, only 25 per cent of this debt actually belongs to DISCOs, the rest are for other companies in the value chain- generating companies, bulk traders, gas suppliers, among others.

“So if you do not pay and you accumulate debt, what you are looking at is a possible total collapse of the entire power sector.

“That is what we seek to avert by this action. We need this fund to energies the power sector; to ensure electricity supply and to grow the sector,’’ Idemudia said.
He stated that the operations of all distribution companies were hampered by huge indebtedness by the “historic debtors.’’

An official of the National Arts Theatre who did not want his name mentioned confirmed to NAN on Sunday that electricity supply to the complex had been disconnected for close to a week.

The source said that the ongoing programme in one of the theatre’s halls was been powered by generator.

However, efforts to speak with the management of the theatre failed as they did not pick calls made to their cell phones.
NAN reports that the disconnection affected business activities around the National Arts Theatre complex.

NAN also reports that on July 24, Sunday Odutan, Executive Director, Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED), decried the huge indebtedness of government establishments and military formations to the distribution companies.

He gave the statistics of indebtedness of the distribution companies as follows –Abuja DISCO: N18.6 billion; Eko DISCO: N8.6 billion; Kaduna: N8.2 billion and Enugu: N7.2 billion.
Others are Ibadan: N6.8 billion; Ikeja, N5.9 billion; Port Harcourt, N6.8 billion; Benin: N5.8 billion; Jos: N6.5 billion; Yola: N2.4 billion and Kano: N1.2 billion.

INDIAN WOMAN BIRTHS CONJOINED TWINS SHARING ONE HEART

A woman has given birth to a pair of boys who are fused at the abdomen, have two healthy sets of limbs but share one heart.

Shahin Khan, 26, was admitted to Sion Hospital in Mumbai, India, where she gave birth to the twins in the seventh month of her pregnancy on Wednesday morning.
The new-borns weighing 4.5 kg have two separate heads and neck but are joined from the thorax - the part from the neck to abdomen.

According to Mirro.co.uk,While doctors at the hospital have delivered several conjoined twins in the past, the latest twins are unusual in sharing one heart and neck - making it harder to separate them.
The hospital has prepared a team of doctors to carry out a possible surgery to separate the infants.
Dr Paras Kothari, the Head of Paediatric Surgery at the hospital, said: "As they share one heart, it isn't going to be an easy decision to make for the parents.

"But without a surgery none of them would survive. A hospital ethics committee will first discuss the surgery and its possible outcome before counselling the parents,” he said.

Dr Suleiman Merchant, the dean of the hospital , said: “These conjoined twins have a very complex internal architecture.

"While they have two separate heads and necks, they are joint from the thorax, that is the part between the neck and the abdomen, and so are completely fused below the umbilicus level.”

Shahin and her husband Irshand Khan, 27, a cobbler, are already parents of two daughters.

The next course of action will be decided after all investigations are complete, and the hospital will provide all the facilities completely free of cost.

TOKYO ELECTS YURIKO KOIKE AS FIRST WOMAN GOVERNOR

Exit polls show that former Japanese Defense Minister Yuriko Koike has won Tokyo's gubernatorial election. Among her tasks will be to try to bring some order to preparations for the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Koike came out on top of a record field of 21 candidates in Sunday's election to become the successor to former governor Yoichi Masuzoe, according to broadcasters NHK and TV Tokyo.

The election was called after Masuzoe stepped down in June over a financial scandal - the second successive city leader to quit for such reasons.

Koike is a former TV anchorwoman who has served both as defense minister and environment minister. She speaks not only fluent English, but also Arabic, having studied in Cairo.

Speaking after exit polls forecast her win, Koike, 69, said she would lead the city "in an unprecedented manner." She will be the first female governor of the Japanese capital.

Olympic woes
Among her tasks will be supervising preparations for the 2020 Olympics, which have been troubled by a string of scandals and ballooning costs.
Embarrassments have included accusations of plagiarism in the design of the official logo, and cancellation of plans for a new Olympic stadium owing to rising costs.

In addition, there have been allegations of corruption, and French prosecutors are looking into alleged bribes linked to Tokyo's bid to host the games.
Costs for the games are seen as possibly doubling or tripling the reported original forecast of 730 billion yen ($6.92 billion).

The election also centered on issues such as the shortage of childcare in the city and the challenge posed by the perennial earthquake threats to the city.

INMATE PASSES OUT AFTER DRINKING COMPETITION

So much for Nigerian prisons lately. An inmate of the Abeokuta Prison, Ogun State, has passed out after a drinking competition involving other prisoners.

Punch Metro gathered from a highly credible source that the inmate was, however, resuscitated after much effort by other inmates and prison officials.

The source said the inmates had engaged themselves in a bet, adding that things turned awry when one of them suddenly collapsed.

He said, “It is a norm for prisoners to smuggle in alcohol, hard drugs and phones. This of
course happens with the support of prison officers who receive bribes from the inmates.


“There was, however, a drama when some of the inmates decided to have a drinking competition last Monday. They placed a bet and in the course of the competition, one of them passed out.

“There was a lot of confusion in the prison as officers and other inmates struggled to revive the man. The effort paid off when he eventually came round. The prison authorities in the state have yet to decide on what to do about the case.”

Another source explained that in the same prison, an inmate also duped a resident of the state from inside the prison.

“In that prison, they have prisoners with ipad. One of them, through the Internet, defrauded a resident of Abeokuta of millions of naira. Investigations led detectives to the prison where they found the fraudster,” he added.

Prisons in the country have been enmeshed in controversies in recent weeks.

On June 24, 2016, there was a riot in the female wing of the Kirikiri prisons, Lagos, after alcoholic drinks allegedly circulated by a female prison officer did not go round.

The officer, later identified as Mary Ikenye, was sacked by the prison authorities for the act, which they said bordered on trafficking.

On the same day, two inmates awaiting trial at the Kuje Prison escaped, while on Saturday, 13 inmates escaped from the Koton-Karfi Medium Prison in Kogi State.

CHINESE MAN COMMITS SUICIDE IN IKEJA APARTMENT

A 50-year-old Chinese national, Si Guicai, has killed himself in Itohan Avenue, Ikeja area of Lagos
Guicai allegedly hanged himself to the iron window of his apartment at 9:00 p.m.

No one could really say the reason for his decision, as he was just found dead the following morning.

Lagos police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos has confirmed the incident saying: “One Si Guicai, a Chinese, allegedly hanged himself to the iron window in his room. A team of policemen attached to Man-centre division visited, examined and photographed the scene, while corpse was removed and deposited at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja morgue for autopsy while investigation is ongoing.”

The incident happened on friday.

For months, people across America have been hearing troubling stories about the spread of the Zika virus across other nations, particularly in South America. And although the threat of an outbreak in the States has been a frightening thought to many people, the threat seemed to be kept at bay until recently. And now reports have revealed that a major star, Beenie Man, has now contracted the virus.

The legendary Jamaican artist announced that he has the disease yesterday when he shared the news with fans on his Instagram page that he had to cancel his headlining set on the second night of Drake’s OVO Festival because he was denied entry into Canada over his diagnosis.

“Jah know…dah week ya deal wid me a way!! No visa fi mi Canada show (I apologize again to my fans in case you haven’t seen the press release).  Zika Virus hol’ mi. The Zika virus is a communicable disease that can be spread through mosquito bites, sex, from a pregnant woman to her baby, and through blood transfusion.

TWO NIGERIANS MURDERED IN SOUTH AFRICA ON FRIDAY

President, Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene, has confirmed that two Nigerians were killed in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province.

This is coming barely two weeks after a South African guard killed a Nigerian businessman in the country.

Anyene disclosed on Sunday in Port Harcourt in a telephone interview from Pretoria that the two men were killed on Friday, July 29, at different areas of Johannesburg.

He said that the first victim, Gideon Ogalaonye, an indigene of Onitsha, Anambra, was allegedly shot dead at 7 p.m. while on a visit to the residence of his daughters and the second victim, Nnamdi Michael, an indigene of Enugu state, was allegedly stabbed to death by a Zimbabwean national at Yeoville at 8 p.m on the same day.

Anyene said eyewitnesses said the assailant first demanded for money from Michael, which was not given and later attempted to forcefully remove his phone.

He said that the assailant stabbed the victim, adding that Nigerians at the scene pursued and arrested him.

Anyene said: “ The Zimbabwean has been handed over to the police and we will follow the case.

“ The two incidents have been reported to the Nigerian mission in South Africa and the South African police.

“ The Nigerian community in South Africa are not happy with the killings.

“ We urge the Federal government to persuade its South African counterpart to investigate and prosecute incidents of killings of Nigerians in that country.

“ We are getting worried about these incessant killings and we want the culprits prosecuted.”

It will be recalled that Ikejiaku Chinedu, a 35-year old Nigerian businessman, was killed on July 26 at Mokopane town, Limpopo Province by operatives of a private security firm
