Mario Goetze 113rd goal sealed the 4th World Cup title for the European nation. Gonzalo Higuain got the first clear chance in the first half, but couldn’t convert it through Toni Kroos back pass. Germany had the ball possession, more in both half, but Argentina got a Higuain goal canceled out through an offside. As the match went into extra-time, Goezte was brought on to replace All-time World Cup scorer Miroslav Klose, after which Goezte broke the deadlock in the 113rd minute from a Schurlle assist. SOYINKA, EVEN AT 80, NO ONE CAN STOP YOU – TINUBU
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 80th Birthday Message to Wole SoyinkaNo word can describe what you have achieved professionally and as well as a patriot. You are one of a kind. You have become the conscience of our nation, pricking us and alerting us to the dangers ahead. You have not stopped there; you have gone further to proffer solutions in a timely and comprehensive manner on how to move things forward. Your words and interventions continue to resonate here at home and globally.
You remain one of the few truly celebrated Nigerian icons and a solid and powerful voice. Indeed, one of the very few powerful voices who continue speak up against injustice, inequality and creeping fascism. The more they try to diminish you, the more your status rise in distinction to their incoherence and verbiage. Each time they try to silence you, your voice rings out louder and clearer. You have always said, “The greatest threat to freedom is the absence of criticism” and you are being proved right with our experience. We take instruction in these words of yours.
Nigeria’s search for true democracy remains on course because of your unrelenting and lucid interventions. Through the years you have demonstrated a fierce commitment to the Nigerian project and worked assiduously with different groups and organizations in the singular effort to ensure that Nigeria’s democracy survives and we achieve an egalitarian society.
I identify with you in this struggle for a better and greater Nigeria and stand side by side with you in your condemnation of the impunity of the present administration and the demand you have made that the current Nigerian government has a case to answer for all the unconstitutional acts it is perpetrating.
I celebrate with you today. May you grow in wisdom and knowledge. May you find peace and remain in good health. Happy birthday.

MARADONA: WORLD CUP FATE DEPENDS ON MESSI
The Argentina icon says the Albiceleste have the 27-year-old to thank for reaching the last four of the tournament and will need him at his best to advance to the final.
Argentina legend Diego Maradona believes his nation's World Cup fate rests entirely on the shoulders of Lionel Messi ahead of their semi-final against the Netherlands.
The Albiceleste have made it to the final four for the first time since 1990 and Maradona feels they have the Barcelona star to thank for their successful tournament so far.
Messi has scored four times in five appearances and faces yet more pressure to perform following an injury to Angel Di Maria, but Maradona is confident he will produce the goods.
"It's because of Messi that we have reached the last four for the first time since 1990 and one more will take us a step closer to our goal. But it won't be easy," Maradona told Times of India.
"A lot will obviously depend on Messi, who will remain the world's best player irrespective of the result.
"Is the pressure of carrying the hopes of a nation overpowering? International sport is all about that. When you lose a match of such magnitude, the country mourns. When you win, it erupts in joy. They dance, laugh, sing and cry. All for a mere win in a football match. South Americans are crazy about football and their footballers.
"No one knows it better than Messi. Because he doesn't play club football at home, watching him is a TV experience in Argentina.
"After failing to get past the quarter-finals in 2006 and 2010 with him in the side, his deeds this time have raised expectations."Argentina last won the World Cup in 1986, when they beat West Germany 3-2 in the final.

WE ARE TIRED, WE WANT ANOTHER PERSON – MR. IBU THROWS SHADE AT FIBERISIMA
Popular comic actor, Mr. Ibu — real name John Okafor — has taken a subtle swipe at AGN President Ibinabo Fiberisima. The Merrybet, GOtv brand ambassador who said this during an interview with Encomium magazine asked the actress to dump her ambition of running for a second term, stating that “90% of the people she is ruling say no”.
“Going for a second term is making the anger in people expand. It is better for her not to come again. She should leave the office and allow another person to try. No progress at all. I am not part of it. As I speak with you, Ibinabo has about two to three court cases. We are tired, we want another person. We should try a new person, let’s see what he or she would do. About 90% of the people she is ruling say no, but she insisted. Why? Because she is gaining something”On his assessment of the movie industry, the hilarious actor said:
“If I should talk about the movie industry you would make me shout because the industry is giving me headache. I am not happy at all. I believe we are matured enough to be independent. As big as AGN is we don’t have a national headquarters, I mean a film village. Go to other countries in Africa, they have most of these facilities but we have not been able to achieve these because of greed. All the money promised by President Jonathan and other state Government, what have they done with it? Whether it has been collected or not we don’t know. It is very painful considering the number of years we have been in existence” he said

#BRAZIL2014: THIRD PLACE PLAY-OFF IS POINTLESS – VAN GAAL
Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal lashed out at the World Cup’s third place play-off match on Wednesday after his side’s semi-final defeat to Argentina.
Van Gaal’s troops must now travel to Brasilia to face World Cup hosts Brazil on Saturday for a game he believes should have been scrapped years ago.
“I think this match should never be played,” Van Gaal told reporters. “I’ve been saying this for 10 years. But we’ll just have to play this match.”
Van Gaal said the match condemns the losers to finish a tournament after another defeat, and that one side always has an extra day’s rest. “It’s unfair also because we have one less day to recover, so that’s not fair play,” he said. “But the worst thing is that chances are you lose twice in a row. “And after a tournament in which you’ve played so marvellously well, you’d go home as a loser just because you’ve lost the last two matches. “This has got nothing whatsoever to do with sport. “But I said this 15 years ago. You shouldn’t have players play a match for 3rd/4th place, because there’s only one prize that counts and that’s becoming champion,” said Van Gaal who moves on from the World Cup to become Manchester United’s manager

MUSIC HAS NO LANGUAGE – PHYNO
A rapper and producer, Phyno (Chibuzo Nelson), on Friday, in Lagos said that language was not a barrier to the appreciation of music as music had no language.
Phyno, who is renowned for doing his songs in Igbo language, said that he was grateful to God that all his hard work had eventually paid off.
“At first I was bothered but if you knew things about music you will understand that music has no language.
“One of the biggest songs between last year/this year is `Khona’ and we in Nigeria, we don’t even know what they are saying, so that’s how music is for you.
“You don’t need to understand what they say; just go with the flow as long as they come clear when it comes to their visuals so that’s why I take more time in my videos too.
“Being consistent is like one big challenge that every artiste that is already out has to face unless you are not out and you just have to fight for coming out or just to be relevant.
“But once you are out, the biggest challenge has to be consistency,’’ he said.
Phyno disclosed that he was currently engaged in a “collaboration album’’ with “Olamide’’(Adedeji), a renowned rap artist who raps mostly in the Yoruba language, and described their union as a “divine blessing.’’
Phyno is signed on to Sputnet Records and has hits like `Alobam’, ‘Obago’, ‘Man of the Year’ and the smash collaboration, ‘Ghostmode’, featuring Olamide.
His full album titled, ‘No Guts No Glory’, was released earlier this year.

2014 WORLD CUP: FIFA DEMANDS BACK-UP LETTER FROM NFA FOR SUPPORTERS TO USE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
Football’s governing body, FIFA, has agreed to allow the Nigeria Football Supporters Club to bring in its musical instruments into the stadium in Brazil, provided there is a back-up letter from Nigeria Football Association (NFA).
Rafiu Oladipo, the President-General of the club, said at a news conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday that the club had consequently forwarded a letter to NFA requesting for the letter.
Oladipo said that the letter must reach FIFA 24 hours ahead of the Nigeria/France second round match on Monday.
He added that the letter would also cover Nigeria for other matches in case the Super Eagles qualify for the quarter finals.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that FIFA said it had not officially denied the club the right of singing, drumming and trumpeting during Nigeria’s matches but that the club had never requested officially.
NAN reports that the club had been denied the use of musical instruments in various stadia where the Super Eagles played their Group F preliminary matches, a development the players disliked.
FIFA had insinuated that members of club were likely to use the musical instruments as weapons during Eagles matches.
During Nigeria’s first round matches in Curitiba, Cuiaba and Porto Alegrie, the supporters’ musical instruments were seized at stadium gates but released after each match.
Oladipo said that members of the club were never known for violence and pledged not to allow them use the instruments as weapons during Nigeria’s matches.
He expressed confidence that Super Eagles would defeat France in the next round as Nigeria had beaten France before.
He, however, continued to solicit the support of Nigerians at home for the team, saying it was their prayers that had helped the team progress in the competition. (NAN)
