D’BANJ DIRECTS SUCKER PUNCHES AT DR SID AND DON JAZZY

D’banj rarely grants interviews, and when he does, it goes viral. He was a guest on the 11th episode of Olisa Adibua’s ‘The Truth’ and for the first time, he said quite a lot in the interview which lasts for over 30 minutes.

On the particular topic of why Mo’hits broke up, D’banj categorically stated that Dr Sid broke up the label, added to the fact that his former partner, Don Jazzy, was very unwilling to take risks.

In the course of the interview, D’banj recalled a leaked studio recording where Dr Sid said D’banj’s light was too much and overshadowing his career.

According to the DB Records boss, Dr Sid’s exact words were: ‘Why don’t they know my name, its because D’banj’s star is too much and it’s overshadowing. Mo’hits gave me exposure but D’banj has done more negative than positive for my career.’

Ever ready to hit below the belt, D’banj also said Don Jazzy’s parting words to him weren’t nice at all.

According to the ‘Feeling the Nigga’ singer, Don Jazzy said: ‘Right now, if I dey go for road and I hear your song for radio, I go change the station.’.

I WOULDN’T WANT MY DAUGHTERS TO MARRY A MAN LIKE TUFACE – ANNIE IDIBIA

Nollywood actress and wife of award winning singer, Annie Idibia has revealed that she would not want her daughters to marry a man like Tuface.

Annie disclosed this in a recent interview with Motherhood In-Style magazine. The actress revealed that she does not pray any of her daughters marry a man like their father.

“It hasn’t been easy, I will not lie to you. I mean, you have kids with people, are you going to be their enemy? You have to have at least some civil relationship with them; you have to be very civil but God has been very faithful, and it’s still God all the way because it’s really not easy. “I do not regret being with my husband but I would not want my daughters to be married to a man that has kids with other women, naturally.

“You know, it doesn’t make me love him less or feel like I don’t want to be here, I’m happy that I’m here, I don’t love him less, but I would not wish that for my daughter because even if the man is in, how about the other parties involved? But then, like I said, it’s key to be civil,” Annie said in the interview.

Annie recalled how she suffered when her parents divorced when she was younger. “It was so hard on us then. It’s not an experience I would want my kids to have to go through because when you’re used to being with two people and suddenly, you’re caught between who you’re going to live with or mummy takes you and you are left wondering why daddy didn’t. It is so emotional. “My mum is a very strong woman, she scaled through it. My mum was a full housewife when she was with my dad, but after the divorce she had to work to take care of her 4 kids, and we all had to do minor jobs to help out. “Maybe if I didn’t go through that I wouldn’t understand the pains of divorce and how it would affect the children. At the same time, I’ve learnt that life is not a bed of roses. That experience has made me more focused and stronger. It’s made me the woman that I am and a better mother to my kids. Then, it makes me bent on ensuring that my marriage works too so my children won’t have to go through divorce and all the pains associated with it.”

On her reaction when she found out other women were pregnant for Tuface, she said “My low moments with him were the first time I heard that other people were having his baby, the second should be when we both sat down and agreed to end the relationship. We realized it couldn’t work and decided to break up. That was after I had Isabella. His proposal was a high point; the way he went about it was special. And my wedding! I didn’t think we were going to end up together, and that’s the honest truth,” she said.

In addition, Annie said she wished she was the biological mother of Tuface’s seven kids. “I wish I was the mother of all his kids; the seven of them. But they are my kids; I just wish I was their biological mum. They’re awesome; you can’t help but love them. Everything else has made everything better.”

GHANA PULLS DOWN JONATHAN, BUHARI BILLBOARDS OVER SECURITY CONCERNS

The campaign billboards of two Nigerian presidential candidates in Accra, Ghana has been pulled down by the country’s national security agency.

The billboards of the ruling PDP presidential candidate, President Jonathan and that of opposition APC, Gen Muhammadu Buhari was pulled down due to fears of Boko Haram attacking Ghana if the country is drawn into Nigeria’s politics.

According to GhanaWeb, the decision to pull down the billboards, was taken following an order by the National Security.

A security expert at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Dr. Kwesi Annin, had indicated that Ghana had been saved from a possible attack by the terrorist group, Boko Haram, by pulling down the billboards put up in some parts of Accra.

He was quoted to have said that political elite in the country could have been targeted by Boko Haram if the political campaign in Ghana was not stopped.

He said, “I think it is critical that the National Security and Accra Metropolitan Assembly have listened to the concerns and voices raised by ordinary citizens that these billboards and some level of active political engagement might pose potential threat in the future.”

He said the removal of the billboards should not only be about Boko Haram, but also about whether or not laws governing the country permit foreign political entities to campaign in Ghana.

Meanwhile, an international relations expert, Dr. Vladmir Antwi Danso, said Ghana had been saved from severing future relations with Nigeria.

He was reported to have explained that if there was the perception that Ghana was supporting one candidate over the other, then the relationship between Ghana and Nigeria after the elections would be marred.

“What if after the elections the scales change, then the relationship between our country and Nigeria will also have some hiccups.”

BUHARI WILL LEAD THE MILITARY TO THE N’EAST HIMSELF TO FIGHT BOKO HARAM – OSIBANJO

The Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, says the party will hold public office holders to account for their stewardship if voted to lead the federal government in the February polls.

Osibanjo said this during a town hall meeting with “ActNow’’ an NGO, in Abuja on Monday.

He said there will be severe consequences against those who engage in looting public treasury.

“We will stamp out corruption; there will be severe consequences for those engaged in looting public treasury. “The APC will run a transparent government where public officials will be accountable to the people’’, he said.

According to Osibanjo creating jobs remained a core agenda of the party, adding that “the APC will care for the country’s teeming youths from different directions. “Jobs and creation of employment opportunities have been major issues in the manifesto of the APC. “Our government will place jobless and poor Nigerians on monthly stipends of N5,000 and N7,000 respectively. “The idea is to take 2.5 million people out of poverty every year’’, he said.

On the promise of free healthcare for children, Osibanjo said “we will follow the example of Osun state where such has been done successfully.’’

On the country’s security challenge, Osibanjo said “Buhari will lead the military to the North-East himself to fight the insurgents. “There will also be a consistent increase in the funding of the military by APC’’, Osibanjo said.

TROUBLE HITS 2FACE IDIBIA’S MARRIAGE OVER ‘REKINDLED ROMANCE’ WITH PERO?

If information presently making the rounds is anything to go by, then there might be fire on the mountain.

It would be recalled that 2Face Idibia popped up the marriage question to the then Annie Macaulay in 2012 when one of his baby mamas, Pero Adeniyi was carrying his sixth child. Not many believed that Annie would be 2Face’s choice as wife, but the singer knew where his heart belonged and went for it.

Some hours ago, some purported photographs of 2Face Idibia cuddling Pero hit the internet and from information we gathered, Annie was not happy about her man doing such thing.

It was speculated that Pero and 2Face met at the club over the weekend and they allegedly rekindled what is between them. From the purported photographs flying about on the blogosphere, the singer was seen kissing and cuddling the woman that gave him three children, while wearing his wedding band.

It was whispered that Annie got a hint of Pero being at the club with her husband and allegedly stormed there, but was prevented from seeing the two ‘lovers’ together by some personnel at the club.

Already, some people, who have reacted to the purported photographs, have speculated that this incident might wreck 2Face’s marriage. If this will happen, only time will tell, but we do not pray for such.

Meanwhile, reporters contacted 2Face’s manager, Efe Omorogbe for comments on the photographs, but he declined to speak on it. Also, effort made by us to get the reaction of the singer’s publicist on this matter was not successful.

RONALDO SORRY FOR CARD

Cristiano Ronaldo has issued an apology after being sent off for lashing out at an opponent towards the end of Real Madrid’s La Liga match at Cordoba.

The three-time reigning world player of the year was shown a straight red card in the 84th minute for kicking out at Cordoba defender Edimar.

Ronaldo, who could have been dismissed minutes earlier after punching defender Ivan Crespo only for the incident to go unnoticed by referee Alejandro Hernandez, took to Twitter after the match to say sorry.

He said, “I apologise to everyone and especially to Edimar for my thoughtless act in today’s game.”
An imminent suspension for Ronaldo is now the latest concern for coach Carlo Ancelotti, whose Real Madrid side are looking far from the team which strung 22 straight victories together before Christmas.

Ronaldo was the inspiration behind Los Blancos’ record-breaking streak but he had one of his poorest matches in a Real shirt in the 2-1 victory over Cordoba.

His dismissal could have cost Madrid dear, with the game locked at 1-1 and Cordoba having already wasted a number of chances to regain the lead given to them by Nabil Ghilas’ second-minute penalty.

However, having equalised through Karim Benzema in the first half, it was Madrid who would end up taking all three points thanks to Gareth Bale, who slotted home an 89th-minute penalty after his free-kick had been handled in the box.

Real’s win kept them one point clear of Barcelona and four clear of Atletico Madrid, both of whom won on Saturday.

Bale, whose goal was Madrid’s 100th in all competitions this season, said on his club’s website: “Cordoba have been a tough rival and we knew that this was going to be a tough ground, so we’re happy to have been able to recover in a very difficult game.

“There’s a lot of the season left, a lot of games to go to talk about the title. What we’re clear about is that there can be games like this that can make things difficult for you.

US TO NIGERIA: DON’T POSTPONE ELECTIONS

The United States has advised Nigeria against postponing the general elections scheduled for next month.

The US Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry, gave the advice after he met the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan and All Progressives Congress   Maj. Gen. Muhamadu Buhari (retd.) in Lagos on Sunday.

Kerry said that the US would deny entry visa to any Nigerian politician responsible for fomenting violence during the February elections.

He urged the Federal Government not to postpone the elections as being canvassed by the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.).

The secretary of state said, “Given the stakes, it’s absolutely critical that these elections are conducted peacefully.”
Kerry was in Nigeria to urge the political class to respect the outcome of the February 14 presidential election.

He explained that Washington was concerned that post-election violence could undermine the stability of Nigeria and hamper the fight against terrorism.

It will be recalled that three days of rioting trailed the 2011 general elections which saw Buhari losing to Jonathan.

Kerry said, “Nobody gains by violence, nobody gains by turning a political disagreement into a killing spree … The proof will be in the actions that are taken in the course of the election and afterwards.
“Anyone who participates in, plans or calls for violence against the civilian population must be held accountable, including by ineligibility for an American visa. Perpetrators of such violence would not be welcome in the US.”
In an apparent response to Dasuki’s call, Kerry said, “It is imperative that Nigeria holds its elections on time.”
Dasuki had in London last week called for the postponement of the elections to allow the Independent National Electoral Commission distribute more Permanent Voter Cards to Nigerians.

An unconfirmed source said Kerry also spoke with the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, on the telephone.

He was said to have urged Jega to ensure that the polls, which would determine how the US relates to Nigeria in future,   were credible.

Kerry also said that the US remained committed to helping Nigeria fight Boko Haram.

MUHAMMADU BUHARI'S WIFE REVEALS HER AGENDA IF SHE BECOMES THE FIRST LADY

Aisha Buhari, the wife of APC presidential flag-bearer, Muhammadu Buahri during the inaugural meeting of the APC women presidential campaign initiative held in Abuja on Saturday January 24, reacted to her husband’s promise to scrap the office of the first lady because it is unconstitutional and allegedly being used to steal public fund.

She also revealed her agenda if she eventually becomes the first lady after the elections.

According to her, "when my husband is elected as the president of this country, he will rule the country within the rule of law based on the constitution of the country.

If the office of the first lady is constitutionally recognised, he will not tamper with it, but if it is not that’s okay. For me, I will perform my duties and role as the wife of the President of Nigeria traditionally.

Wives of presidents have some traditional roles, like receiving guests, visiting orphanages, helping the less privileged people. They also lead in the fight for the right of women and malnourished children, infant mortality rate, kidnapping and girl-child trafficking."

D’BANJ’S COURT CASE ADJOURNED INDEFINITELY

It looks like D’banj can have some relief, however tentative, as he will no longer appear in court tomorrow.

The court case between the DB Records boss and Mindhub Technologies bearing suit number: LD/ADR/445/14 scheduled to commence hearing on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Multi-door Courthouse in Obalende, Lagos, has been adjourned indefinitely.

The postponement of proceedings in the case is coming on the heels of the on-going strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) which is over 3 weeks old now.

The on-going strike by judicial workers necessitated the adjournment of the case as the strike has paralysed activities and court rooms remain closed.

A new date will be announced once judicial workers call off the strike.

POLICE NAB 2 SUSPECTS WITH FAKE PRESIDENCY NUMBER PLATE, ID CARDS IN ABUJA

The Police in FCT have arrested two suspected fraudsters and recovered a fake number plate and two identity cards purportedly issued by State House/Presidency.

Mr Wilson Inalegwu, the Commissioner of Police in the territory, made this known at news conference in Abuja on Friday.

According to NAN, Inalegwu said the suspects were arrested in a white Range Rover Jeep bearing the fake number plate after the City Gate on Airport Road.

The commissioner added that 2,900 fake Euros were also recovered from the suspects. “Our officers are deployed round the territory for surveillance so that we can rid the territory of all sorts of crime. “During one of our patrols along the airport road, after city gate, a vigilant officer saw a range rover jeep, white in colour, being driven toward the airport road.

“The officer observed the registration number to be State House, SH2011, and being curious, he alerted Wuye Police Division. “When the driver of the car was accosted, he parked the car and took to his heels. He was chased and apprehended’’, he said.

According to Inalegwu, when the driver was questioned, “he told us that this was a ploy to lure unsuspecting citizens, who are desirous of appointment and juicy contracts. “When he is seen with the state house number, they will think that he is an official in the state house’’, he said.

The commissioner said the suspects also mentioned other accomplices, now at large. “They suspects would be arraigned.’’ He urged the public to be vigilant and wary of fraudsters who would want to use all means to defraud them of their hard earned money.

FAYOSE ATTACKS BUHARI IN ANOTHER PUNCHY ADVERT… INVOLVES FASHOLA THIS TIME (LOOK)

Despite the largely negative feedback on social media for his controversial advert on the front-page of the Punch on Monday, Governor Ayo Fayose appears not to be moved by what you think.

The Governor today sponsored another ad-set, taking a shot at Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

In the ad on Page 9. of the Punch, he emphasized that Buhari is too old to be President at 72 and went ahead to throw in one of Governor Babatunde Fashola’s quotable quotes for good measure.

Buhari is too old to be President at 72. Even APC Governor Raji Fashola admits the need for youthfulness in governance. Fashola had said, “When I took this job at the age of 44, I was counting the number of white hair on my head. Today at 52, I am counting the number of black hair on my head. You see, this job is a tough job, you need youthfulness to do this job.”
And just in case you want to criticize him, he doesn’t seem to care – what matters is his loyalty to President Jonathan as he had made absolutely care before now.

“What I believe in my life is absolute loyalty and that is my own philosophy about politics. It is either I am for you or I am against you. President Goodluck Jonathan supported me when I was contesting and this is a payback time. We have to support him because it was God that brought him into power.”

“Apart from the fact that President Jonathan has done his best for Nigeria, presidency is a very powerful position that needed a humble personality like Jonathan to superintend over. So Ekiti must stand up for Jonathan and I want to assure you, he will not forget you,”
he said.

KATSINA COLLEGE RELEASES BUHARI’S WASC RESULTS

Government College, formerly Provincial Secondary School, Katsina, has finally laid to rest the controversy surrounding the credentials of Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate.

The institution Wednesday released Buhari’s WASC result, indicating that he graduated in 1961.

The results, as obtained by Premium Times Wednesday, confirmed Buhari’s claim that he undertook the University of Cambridge West African School Certificate Examinations and obtained five credits in English Language, Geography, Hausa Language, History, and Health Science.

The certificate showed that Mr. Buhari, a former military head of state, failed in Mathematics and Woodwork, and had a pass in Literature in English.

The examination centre number was 8280 while Mr. Buhari’s candidate number was 002.

The statement of results is printed on the letter head paper of the Katsina State Ministry of Education, and it shows that the examination took place in 1961.

The military authority had on Tuesday denied being in position of Buhari’s credentials, a development that had put his presidential aspiration into serious doubt.

CERTIFICATE CONTROVERSY: I DID MY WASSCE IN 1961, GRADUATED ALONGSIDE LATE YAR’ADUA, HAD GRADE II – BUHARI

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, has reacted the claims by the opposition that he didn’t have secondary school education.

Speaking in Kano on Wednesday, Buhari said the claims being made by the opposition was borne out of mischief, adding that campaigns should focus on issues and not personal attacks.

It would be recalled that the whole controversy over Buhari’s education started when he failed to present his academic certificates to INEC. The presidential candidate on Wednesday, however, said he sat for the Cambridge University/WASCE in 1961 and graduated in Second Division.

“I attended Provincial Secondary School, Kaduna, now Government College, Kaduna, and sat the University of Cambridge/WASCE in 1961, the year we graduated, alongside (now the late) Shehu Musa Yar’Adua (Chief of General Staff under Gen Olusegun Obasanjo as Head of State) and Justice Umar Abdullahi, a former President of Court of Appeal. My examination number is 8202220,”
Buhari said.

He also stated that he has made a formal request to his old school, Government College, Kaduna, to make available his result. Accusing the PDP-led federal government of using every weapon at its disposal to try to remain in power, Buhari said the controversy over his education status was as a result of his pledge to tackle unemployment, insecurity and corruption, if elected.

ELECTIONS: NIGERIAN POLITICIANS TOO DIFFICULT TO HANDLE —JEGA

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega has said that the penchant by the Nigerian politicians to cut corners at the expense of the acceptable convention posed a major impediment to free and fair election in the country.

Jega spoke at the Bayero University, Kano, BUK, yesterday, saying also that Nigerian politicians were ‘’too difficult to handle.’’

This was even as the INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, for Benue State, Prof. Istifanus Dafwang, yesterday, said that 7,000 PVC readers had been been received by his office in preparation for the general elections.

He said that the commission was not composed of magicians, pointing out the level of successes to be recorded by INEC in the forthcoming elections would depend on the cooperation of the people.

In his key note address at a lecture organized by the Political Science Department of the BUK, Jega further stated that the Nigerian political class considered election as an investment, adding the penchant to cut corners for perceived advantage had the potential to compromise INEC plan.

Jega said: “Good elections are not the business of the election managers alone. Politicians want to win by hook or by crook; they induce and entice INEC officials and if they fail, they threaten them because it is an investment that they want to win at all costs.

“INEC is not a magician, we can make mistakes. The problems with elections are enormous and most politicians don’t play by the rules, but the fact remains that we are democratising and it would take time to clear the Aegean stable and every stakeholder has to thrown in his/her best.”

He, however, noted that the commission had improved on the mistakes of the past to ensure a free, fair and credible election this year.

He reiterated that INEC had removed four million people from the voters register because of multiple registration, adding that the authentic voters register was now error proof and would be difficult for anyone, individual or group to manipulate.

According to him, foreign names like those of Queen Elizabeth, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali among others which used to find their ways into the nation’s voters registers had now been blocked, as the Permanent Voters’ Card, PVC, had security features that would ensure the arrest of whoever cloned the card through its card reader on presentation.”

TOYIN AIMAKHU-JOHNSON: A LOT OF CELEBRITIES ARE NOT BEING TRUTHFUL ABOUT THEIR LIFESTYLES

Nollywood actress Toyin Aimakhu-Johnson was recently interviewed by TW magazine.

In the interview she talks about her growth in the Nigerian movie industry, growing up in Ibadan, the best day of her life and much more.

Read excerpts from her interview below!

On flaunting riches on social media:
You see, my parents have always told me never to blow my own trumpet. Besides, a lot of celebrities are not being truthful about their lifestyles. I live a very normal life and I am comfortable. I am never one to tell even if I have. Personally, I just don’t see why I should go out to purchase a pair of shoes worth $3,500. I mean, those shoes better take me to heaven! And I’m being honest about it. I simply have the best husband in the world that supports me. We have a car too. We are fine, and that’s all that matters.
On growing up:
As a child, I lived in Ibadan and Benin City, respectively. And as the youngest of five children, the earliest memories of my childhood include walking long distances to fetch water and eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables always. It was a way of life. I come from a very prayerful home too. My mother is a pastor and my father is retired.
On how she started acting:
My late older brother was friends with a guy whose uncle happened to be a movie marketer. One day, I got a call from him asking me if I knew someone that could act. Apparently, the actress that had been hired for that role did not show up. I told the producers I could act the part. Therefore I volunteered to replace the actress. I was paid N5,000 for the role and I remember feeling very excited about it. It all started in 2003.
On succeeding in Nollywood:
Firstly, you have to love the world of entertainment. You must have a passion for it. Interestingly, some people have been in this industry for a long time…yet, they haven’t grown. Secondly, you must also be very submissive and prayerful. Don’t act like you know it all.

BUHARI: JONATHAN’S GOVT HAS RUINED ECONOMY

Nigeria is broke, All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari said yesterday.

“Many states could not pay their workers’ salary in December,” he said as he tongue lashed the Dr. Goodluck Jonathan administration for neglecting corruption and misgovernance  to focus on his health.

The rumour of his ill-health, he said, is a desperate attempt to take the mind of Nigerians off the basic issues of corruption and misgovernance by the Dr. Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Addressing a news conference in Abuja, Gen. Buhari also said he had no problem with his certificates with which he contested elections under the guidelines provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on three occasions.

He argued that rather than address the problem facing the nation, which led to non-payment of workers’ salaries in December, the government was talking about the health of an individual.

Gen. Buhari said:  “Vanguard reported that I was to jet out for medical check-up yesterday (Saturday) but here I am. I was in Nasarawa and Benue states yesterday (Saturday); tomorrow, I am going to be in two states. The day after tomorrow in two more states. I am doing two states per day.

“How they got the impression that I was sick, I do not know. Although I got cold, that did not stop me from going on with my schedule.

“I don’t know of this desperation. The issue we are telling Nigerians is that of corruption in this country and that in the last 16 years, PDP has literally destroyed this country.

“This is the issue and I don’t understand what my health has got to do with that one. I have been sick on daily basis? And documents have been put on paper, on tweeter that I am sick and ABUTH has said they are forged documents. This desperation is beyond my understanding.”

Asked to make a categorical statement on his health, Gen. Buhari jokingly asked the reporter: “How old are you? 50 years? I am telling you that if we go to the field, you would not last the time I will last in the field.”

On the controversy surrounding his certificate, Gen. Buhari said: “Why didn’t Nigerians ask before? I have contested elections three times under the same rules set by INEC where there is a basic education qualification you must have. I was allowed to contest all these elections because my certificate? were in order.

“There were individuals that wrote to the United States War College and the college answered them and it was published by some of your papers. Really, this desperation of misinformation that is being passed around will do nobody any good because our minds are being taken away from the serious issues of corruption and incompetence by the PDP.”

The APC candidate spoke also on the alleged fraud in the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) where he was chairman during the Abacha regime, “That one has been cleared. There is no fraud in PTF,” Gen. Buhari said, adding:

“There was an investigation and General Obasanjo has answered that question. He confirmed that there was an investigation and the report was brought to him and there was nothing on ground as far as my management and chairmanship of the PTF was concerned. So, what else can I say when the person who did the investigation because he was the Head of State has cleared me. What else can I say?”

Lamenting the state of the economy, he said: “Well, the country is broke. Many states could not pay their workers’ salaries. Even in December most families were hungry during Christmas because government could not pay their salary and yet, they are talking about an individual’s health instead of paying the people.”

Also yesterday, the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO) accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of circulating a scam medical report on Gen. Buhari.

A statement from the Directorate of Media and Publicity of the organization, signed by Mallam Garba Shehu, said it was ludicrous for the PDP to throw caution to the wind in its “shameless” effort to pull wool over the eyes of Nigerians because of their rising desire for change of guards at the federal level.

The statement, which was given to The Nation in Abuja, directed the attention of Nigerians to the glaring errors on the letterhead of the paper on which the purported medical report was written, wrongly identify the institution as Ahmadu Bello Teaching Hospital instead of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), as the Zaria-based teaching hospital is known.

The statement reads: “The attention of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation has been brought to the circulation of a fake medical record of General Muhammadu Buhari.
“We are able to track the circulation of the post on a social media platform and we know that the information emanated from the Facebook handle of one of Governor Ayo Fayose’s aides.

“It is noteworthy that the authorities at the Ahmad Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) has given a clean bill on General Buhari’s health status. It is also noteworthy for Nigerians to understand that the PDP will stop at nothing to cast aspersion on the person of General Buhari.

“We knew that the PDP would become unbridled at a point in its desperation to avert the defeat coming its way in the countdown to the February 14 presidential election, but to anticipate that the PDP would go as dirty as spreading falsehood on an individual’s state of health could not have been imaginable.

“What is important is that Nigerians know today that our country is not healthy. They know that the PDP has driven the country to a near state of comatose. Our national security is very unhealthy and our national economy is right now gasping for breath from the stranglehold of the PDP.

“It is almost as if official corruption and impunity are matters of state policy in the management of our national economy under the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

“That is why a great number of Nigerians yearn for change. Nigerians want a change from the clueless and directionless management of our security and our economy. Nigerians made a call on General Buhari to come on this rescue mission. They called on him because they know he is as fit as a fiddle to fix our unhealthy economy and the insecurity that has consumed a large region of our land.”
In another statement, Shehu, said the seemingly “exhausted and frustrated” ruling PDP cannot hoodwink the public in its “sickening” attempt to tarnish the towering moral stature of its presidential candidate by dredging up a discredited report.

The statement said: “President Obasanjo, who set up this panel to probe Buhari’s tenure at PTF, discovered something shocking from the work of the panel”.
He recalled that after reviewing the PTF report, former President Obasanjo directed the relevant authority to go after those indicted by the report, giving Buhari a clean bill.

Shehu explained that it was common knowledge to Nigerians that the Interim Management Committee was sacked by former President Obasanjo in March 2000 for alleged incompetence, amidst charges of serious abuse of public trust. Several members of that committee were indicted and made to refund hundreds of millions of naira of public funds, which they illegally took from the PTF.

He said anyone under the illusion that it could use “a rotten report to smear Gen. Buhari must be living in fantasy”, adding that these “desperate tactics” would only amount to disservice to President Jonathan and his party, the PDP.

He advised the Jonathan administration to focus its energy and attention on how to help give the country a new lease of life in the face of grim prospects on the economic front instead of wasting time on the futile efforts to smear the APC candidate.

Shehu reiterated that the PDP administration lacked the credibility to throw stones at Gen. Buhari, who is “by all accounts more credible and trusted” in the eyes of Nigerians.
