BODIES OF 74 S.AFRICANS KILLED IN SYNAGOGUE FLOWN HOME

A cargo plane carrying the remains of 74 South Africans killed in a building collapse in Nigeria landed in Pretoria on Sunday, two months after the accident.

The remains of another nine South Africans among the 116 people killed on September 12 when a multi-storey guesthouse collapsed at a Lagos mega-church will be repatriated after the DNA identification process is complete.

The chartered Antonov plane laden with four mortuary vans landed at the Waterkloof air force base shortly before 10:00 am (0800 GMT) in an event carried live by public broadcaster SABC.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa was to preside over the official ceremony to receive the bodies later in the day.

Nigeria released the bodies on Saturday after a high-level government delegation led by Jeff Radebe, a minister in the presidency, spent a week in Nigeria to fast-track the repatriation process.

Radebe had met President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja to discuss the speedy repatriation of the remains.

The head of the mega-church and one of Nigeria’s most popular preachers, TB Joshua, suggested that a low-flying aircraft reportedly seen over the building four times before it came down was to blame for the collapse, and said he had been targeted in a deliberate attack.

But expert witnesses at a coroner’s hearing ruled out aerial sabotage or an explosion.
The court was told that the guesthouse did not have planning permission.

“MESSI WOULD HAVE SCORED MORE IN EPL” – XAVI

Xavi Hernandez has insisted that his Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi, would have scored more goals if he played in the English Premier League.

Messi is on the verge of breaking Telmo Zarra’d record for the most La Liga goals and has won four consecutive Ballon d’Or prizes from 2009 to 2012.

A lot of critics have said that the 27-year-old would not have shone so much if he played in England, but Xavi disagrees.

“I think he’d be even better in the Premier League because it is not so defensive,” the 34-year-old told BBC Sport.

“When defending against Barcelona, they [English clubs] play on a 1 v 1 basis, defending with passion, a lot of energy. But Leo would find more spaces than in La Liga.”

RIHANNA THANKS TOM FORD FOR NIPPLE LETTER

Rihanna has thanked Tom Ford for writing a public letter in support of her outfit which left little to imagination.

The 26-year-old star took to Twitter to reveal she ‘hearts’ the 53-year-old designer after he penned a note about the Bajan beauty’s body parts when she stole the limelight at the CFDA Awards in New York City in June in a completely sheer Adam Selman fishnet dress which exposed her assets.

Posting a link to Tom’s letter, Rihanna wrote: ‘i.heart.Tom.Ford (sic)’

In the note, Tom admitted he had offered the ‘S&M’ hitmaker several of his own creations to wear on that summer evening, but was glad she turned him down because she looked like ‘one of the most beautiful women’ he’d ever seen at the event.

In a post on his website, he wrote: ‘I was at the CFDA awards as I was receiving a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ [which I prefer to think of as a ‘Mid Life Achievement Award’], and I have to say that Rihanna was for me, that night, one of the most beautiful women that I have ever beheld. I had designed several things for her specifically for that evening which she did not wear, but when I saw her it did not matter. I whispered into her ear that she was right not to have worn one of my dresses that night because she looked more beautiful than I have ever seen her look. She was stunning. (sic)’

As well as her custom-made gown, Rihanna also sported a pair of gloves and a headscarf hand-embellished with over 216,000 Swarovski crystals.

SINGER, DI'JA NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO PRONOUNCE WORDS……CHARLES NOVIA

Nollywood actor, producer, director, social critique, Charles Novia, recently, has been receiving the bang from his consistent critiques of other Nigerian celebrities with the latest from Nollywood’s actress, Chika Ike’s manager, Serah Donald.

Charles who is never bothered by such abusive response or feedbacks, still kept his head high as he continues to look for lacunas that ignored by any of these celebs.

The recent released video of ‘ADAOBI’ by the Mavin crew, has been receiving massive airplay both within and outside the country and Charles Novia, has continued to monitor the artistic job put together by Don Jazzy in the delivery of the video.

According to the Nollywood producer, “I watched the ADAOBI video by the Mavin Ensemble and @DONJAZZY. Quite a huge improvement from Dorobucci video. Well executed. Thumbs up!

The video is earthy, African and the visuals match the pulsating beats. There was visible excitement in the faces of all the artists.

That Korede Bello dude has huge screen charisma. He exudes something innocent yet confident. Matched with his talent, he's one to watch
Something naughty but charming in the near-sneer of Di'ja. She could work more on her pronunciations in songs. She has great promise.

It's that Reekado Banks fella I still can't put a finger on his style. He seems to force himself to please in videos. Not natural enough

And the Girl who plays Adaobi in the video? Who is she, please? Such powerful screen presence! If she can act, she's got a role by me!

Kudos to the Director of the Adaobi video. I see the humility of @DONJAZZY in promising to correct the flaws of Dorobucci video worked

My scores: Concept: 6/10 Originality: 6/10 Choreography 7/10 Cinematography 8/10 Directing 8/10 Ensemble Performance 5/10. Well done,”
he concluded.

WOMEN ARE MORE RELIABLE IN POLITICS – OBASANJO

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has said that women in politics are more reliable than their male counterparts.

Obasanjo said this yesterday, when some national executives and members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, visited him at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, where he was presented with Father of the Nation award.

The former President, however, advised that politics must be played with decency, dignity and honour that women are known for.

He frowned at a situation where African women are not often given chance to exhibit their potentials because of the cultural and religious background, adding that this should not be so as only men can not build the nation.

He said: “One of the best journalists that ever served me was a woman, and that was the late Mrs Oluremi Oyo.

“In politics, women are more reliable than men. When a woman says she’s with you,you can really take that she is with you.”

DAVIDO HINTS DUET WITH DRAKE

Nigerian music sensation, David ‘Davido’ Adeleke, recently revealed his musical plans, stating that he plans to have music collaboration with American music star, Drake.

The Skelewu crooner, who been on tour of some countries in Africa, made it known that his reasons for delaying in releasing another album is because he wants to stand out in the Nigerian music industry, which some say is filled with mediocres.

'I have plans to do a collabo with Drake. I like his kind of music. It’s going to be the bomb! Something my fans would appreciate. We are already working on that,’
Davido said.

Speaking on his relationship status, the singer said, "I don't want to talk about relationship, so that I can keep being happy. Talking about my relationship status might make me sad at the end of the day and I don't want that. Like the media keep speculating whenever they see me with any girls, I don't really care. I just want to be happy."Lately, Davido has been spotted with different girls in compromising positions but he keeps insisting there is no string attached to any of them.

OCCULTISTS SUCCEED IN MAKING JULIUS AGWU DUMP POLITICAL AMBITION

It has been reported that ace comedian, Julius Agwu has abandoned his political ambition to be the next governor of Rivers State come 2014, shortly after he claimed occult members have been threatening him to join them or he won't make the seat.

However, it was revealed that his change of heart is coming on the heels after he reportedly had with his Ikwerre kinsmen.

According to Julius Agwu’s manager, Prince Sunday Uwem, ‘There was a meeting on Thursday, October 30, between Julius Agwu and his kinsmen from Ikwere, and it was agreed that he should step down from the governorship race because the current Governor Rotimi Amaechi is his friend and they are both from the same area.
Speaking further, Uwem said: ‘They’ll want the position to rotate to another part of the state and Julius Agwu has decided to listen to his people and withdraw from contesting.’ This, however, doesn’t mean the end of the road for Julius Agwu’s budding political career as the comedian is said to have only withdrawn from the governorship race and has not ruled out contesting for any other office. Earlier this month, sources in the comedian’s camp revealed exclusively that Governor Amaechi invited Julius to a meeting, urging him to step down based on the rotation quota of the state.

Sources also disclosed that the comedian is being offered a legislative post but he’s yet to fully decide what his next line of action will be, which will be determined by a couple more meetings he is planning with stakeholders to ascertain what other viable positions are available for him.

Julius Agwu declared his intention to run for the governorship election of his native Rivers State in August 2014.

I'M NOT DIABOLICAL, I'M ONLY RIPPING THE FRUITS OF MY LABOUR -ORITSE FEMI EXPLAINS SOURCE OF WEALTH

Wave making musician, Oritse Femi is not doing badly at the moment. He has grown to become one of the sought after singers. Now, the big boy artiste has stepped up by getting himself a ‘tear rubber’ Range Rover SUV. He also moved into his multimillion palatial home in Lekki, Lagos.

Seeing his huge automatic progress, tongues started wagging that the 'Double Wahala' star might have devised a diabolical means of ‘making’ it big in the entertainment circuit.

The singer who is now neighbour to other A-list artistes such as D’banj, Don Jazzy, among many other acts in Lekki, dismissed the rumour, explaining that his latest acquisitions were from proceeds of shows he headlined both locally and internationally.

“I headline several shows both home and abroad. There is hardly a show you would go to right now that my name is not on the poster. It is through hard work and I thank God. Although I cannot disclose how much I got the car and the house, I was able to get the money from the shows I headline,”
he said.

“I am popular now due to hard work and I am always in the studio. After my song, Mercy of the Lord, with Da Grin, I tried my best to bring out a better song but I was unlucky to get any. I had to go back to the drawing board to create the kind of sound people would like.

“I did not go to Satan to succeed, it is not possible. I advise many of my childhood friends that to make it in life, you have to work hard. I say this because some of them may believe the rumour that I did juju, no. It is through hard work. Hard work pays and nobody should do juju. It is my hard work that is paying off,”
he said.
