MY FRIENDS WERE SURPRISED THAT I MARRIED E-MONEY

Five Star Music CEO, Emeka Okonkwo, popularly called E-Money and his wife, Juliet, talk about their love story
How did you meet your spouse?
Juliet:
I met my husband at a video shoot by Julius Agwu, in 2003. I was at the shoot to support Agwu as a long-time friend of his. Prior to meeting my husband, I was already friends with his brother, Kcee.
Was your first impression of him favourable?
Juliet:
He bore a striking resemblance to Kcee, so I imagined they were twins. I liked him when we met for the first time and we started out as friends. We dated for four years and decided to get married afterwards. He was very mature for his age and had a kind heart. He was very reserved, welcoming and spoke affectionately about his family.
E-Money: When we met, I was a young man who was struggling to make ends meet and she was equally very young. She was in her sophomore year at the university. Because she was my first girlfriend and the first woman I ever loved, I remained faithful to her. I was looking for a God-fearing lady who wasn’t excessively concerned with material possessions and who I could plan a future with. Fortunately, I found those qualities in her. Even though I lived in Ajegunle, with my brothers at that time, she visited me on several occasions. I remember that on one of those occasions, she fell into a gutter in a flooded street.
Why did it take you so long to propose to her?
E-Money:
I was only waiting for the right time to ask her to marry me but I knew where the relationship was headed from the outset. I had met other ladies in the past, but they all lacked the qualities I mentioned earlier.
How did you propose to her?
E-Money:
I presented her with a car as an engagement gift.

Why did you accept his proposal?
Juliet: My family and I were on the verge of relocating to the United Kingdom, but I was happy that I was already in a relationship with him. I felt it was a good reason to always visit Nigeria given that I had fallen in love with him and his personality. On one occasion, I was cash-strapped and he willingly parted with the last N1,000 he had on him. I was completely taken aback by that act of generosity.

Did you think he would become this wealthy?
Juliet: When we started dating, my friends were surprised that I sidestepped all the rich guys in Lekki, where I was resident for a man who lived in Ajegunle but I was not bothered. I looked forward to getting a good job upon my graduation from the university. He didn’t even have enough money to take us back to Lagos after our traditional marriage.

E-Money: Kcee was the one who lent me N20, 000. I used it to pay our fare to Lagos.

At what point did you begin to experience a turnaround in your finances?

E-Money: We were on our way to Lagos when I received a phone call informing me that I had been awarded a $2m contract and that is how our lives changed forever.
Did you face any challenges owing to the differences in your backgrounds?
Juliet:
My parents were already deceased when we met but other members of my family blessed our union.
You do not live in Nigeria…
Juliet: I’m a British citizen and I love the environment over there. I like the quality of education which is good for my children. I tried to settle in Nigeria but I could not fit in. When I am away, my husband and I have unhindered communication. It is so good that we do not really feel any vacuum.
He visits us every two weeks and he’s actively involved in the lives of our children. We are okay this way.

How do you handle disagreements?
E-Money:
We don’t invite anybody to act as a go-between; we manage to resolve disagreements ourselves. I won’t say we are saints or angels but we hardly ever quarrel. I may want to be by myself whenever we disagree, but she won’t allow it. We always find a way to resolve our differences amicably.

Juliet: A lot of people don’t know that my husband is a closet comedian; he always finds a way to cheer me up when we disagree. I owe the success of my marriage to Kcee; he understands me so well. Although we hardly invite a third party to intervene when there are issues, but I invite Kcee sometimes.
What would you want to change about your spouse?
E-Money:
I don’t want to change anything about her; I love her just the way she is.

How do cope with advances from the opposite sex?
Juliet: We laugh about it and sometimes, I tease him about his female admirers. If anyone gets a bit out of hand, I step in and put them in their place. We operate an open-door policy.

Do you have access to each other’s social media accounts?
E-Money: Yes, we do but we don’t have any reason to go over each other’s account. She controls our social media accounts.

Do you both run a joint account?
Juliet: We do and I was the one who initiated it. My husband doesn’t like to carry cash so, I control and manage our finances. I am very involved; I know who he works for, his clients and other details of his business.
Can you keep secrets from each other?
Juliet:
No, I don’t and if it is something that would affect him, I make sure I go about it in a diplomatic manner.

E-Money:
I don’t keep secrets from her because I don’t have any reason to do so.

Describe your marriage?
Juliet: Our marriage is built on the fear of God and founded on love. We are friends to ourselves, children and staff. He has a heart of gold even though some people like to take advantage of him. There is nothing I have asked for that he has not provided. Sometimes, he makes things available even before I ask.

E-Money: Juliet is God’s gift to me.

I HAVE NO ISSUES WITH TONTO DIKEH –GIDEON OKEKE

Gideon Okeke may have entered Tonto Dike’s bad books when he stylishly threw a shade at her recently.

Earlier in the week, the controversial actress had released pictures of her traditional marriage to Churchill Olakunle Oladunni and expectedly, the news of the introduction ceremony was greated with mixed feelings from her fans and foes.

Following the so many reactions on social media concerning the marriage, Gideon Okeke in his own tweets, had said,
“Ha! So Aunty last last marries “Mr X”. Not like it’s stops the rain from pouring tho.”
Apparently, the actress didn’t find the tweet funny as she fired back in a not too coherent tweet saying,
“Watch who you are talking to. Be mindful of who you are letting into your life. If you ever sit down with someone to talk and they are belittling and bitching about people they used to be close to or never close to….Chatting sh*t or telling truths that you don’t need to know… Generally hating and gossip talking about whoever… Don’t tell these people anything about you. Recognise that they will do same to you when you aren’t flavour of the month anymore… Some people will try to use you, when you can’t be used/used anymore, the selfish and disloyal behaviour will begin. I say try to use you, because people who are trying to bring you down are already beneath you… No one higher than you in wealth, success, life will ever belittle themselves to stoop so low to trash or destroy you unless you steal from them… The people who are speaking negatively about you aren’t in a Good place. Spiritually they are losing out. Let them talk Sh*t. These are the same people who will do whatever they can to try and get people to like them. Never willingly let them into your life unless you enjoy drama. If you have these people in your life, remove them…FAST They will never help your life, just attempt to hinder your progressions.
Her best friend forever and stylist, Swanky Jerry, may have felt Tonto’s punch line wasn’t strong enough as he decided to take a swipe at Gideon as well.

On his instagram page, Swanky said,
“A man trying to bring a woman down? My goodness! What is the world turning into? An actor who should be busy going for auditions and trying to get jobs, but he’s busy checking other people’s lives and making silly comments about them being married. A man who could not accept his responsibilities, the female you are trying to bring down is one million times better than you on every level. You need to chill and come back next time when you can afford to feed over 15dogs.”
However, in an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, Gideon said he had no issue with Tonto Dikeh while adding that people misunderstood his tweet.
“I really do not want to comment on this but for what it is worth, my tweet was not done with malicious intent. It was not against Tonto Dikeh. I only said what a lot of people had in their minds but could not speak up. What I meant by that tweet was finally, she has revealed Mr. X because she had baited us for a while with Mr. X and now we finally know Mr. X.
That was the tone of my tweet and I excuse people for not understanding. I know she has a huge followership and I excuse them for the misconception because you don’t know where they are coming from or where they have been in life. I have since moved on and I am part of the cast for the movie, 93 Days, which is a story about Dr. Ameyo Adadevo.”

I AM NOT BUHARI’S IN-LAW –ZAKARI

The Acting Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Mrs. Aminat Zakari, has said that the commission is awaiting reports of the police investigations into bribery allegations against some resident electoral commissioners and other staff of the commission.

Zakari, who disclosed this in an interview with Saturday PUNCH in Abuja on Friday, said INEC was waiting for security agents to provide tangible evidence against those involved.

The acting INEC Chairman, who said she had the capacity to be substantive INEC Chairman despite being a woman, denied claims that she is President Muhammadu Buhari’s in-law.

Zakari confirmed that security agents and INEC had received petitions against some RECs, but refused to give the number and identities of the commissioners involved.

Reacting to bribery allegations against some RECs, she stated,
“Everybody makes allegations about bribery, or about somebody being bribed. Anybody can make the allegation, unless it’s proven by the security agencies or the court, INEC does not take action.Speaking on those that had been picked up by the security agencies, he stated, “Unless they (security agencies) give us anything in writing, we just leave it as it is until their investigations are over.”
Zakari, who dismissed an insinuation that she could not effectively perform as INEC Chairman because of her gender, said she was not desperate to retain the job in a substantive capacity.
She stated, “I am a human being first. I have the capacity. If I have the ability to do something and there are ways and means of achieving your targets. You don’t rely on your brain alone. You have other people to rely on. I have done administration. I have worked in organisations that demand accountability.”
The INEC acting chairman explained that she was not appointed commissioner in INEC by Buhari, adding that former President Goodluck Jonathan had appointed her.
“I can’t say the General (Buhari) is my in-law. I am not married to his son. My daughter is not married to him. That is what I understand about being an in-law, but obviously, in life, you have acquaintances, people you have known,” she said.
Adding that Buhari was not known for nepotism, she said, “God decides who becomes (a) leader; if God decides I would be the one to continue, I will have to do my best.”
She stated, “I did not lobby for it (acting chairmanship). I had packed all my things out of INEC; I wanted to leave on the 30th (of June).
“I was just called on my way home as the chairman (Jega) handed over to Ambassador Wali. When I was called that the Head of Service was looking for me and I said, ‘what for?’ and I just continued driving. I was by Bullet House by the time I got the call and I just continued driving.
She also disclosed that the commission had sent some staff from its headquarters to Rivers State to assist in sorting out documents demanded by the state electoral tribunal.

PDP BEGS AS MEMBERS PLAN DEFECTION TODAY

No fewer than 570 key members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State are planning to dump the party for the All Progressives Congress on Saturday (today).

But an association within the PDP in the state called the Unity Group begged the aggrieved members to reconsider the move.

The group made the appeal at a news conference in Yenagoa on Friday against the backdrop of mass defections of prominent members of the party to the APC.

Addressing journalists on Friday, Coordinator, PDP Unity Group, Mrs. Marie Ebikake, urged the aggrieved members not to defect to another party.

Ebikake, a former Commissioner for Transport in the state, who was recently relieved of her position because of her alleged closeness to the former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, said the group was committed to the unity and resolution of the crisis confronting the PDP.
She said, “We cannot deceive ourselves. Some of our people have vowed to go to the APC. We want to use this medium to appeal to them to return. The home they have built, they cannot allow it to collapse.
“We are a group in the Bayelsa State PDP that is committed to the unity of our party, particularly after the outcome of the recent general elections.
“We believe that losing power at the centre after 16 years should unite rather than divide us. We salute the commitment of our members and supporters in the last 16 years.
“However, we are not oblivious of the most recent defections from our great party in Bayelsa State to the opposition APC. We cannot also pretend to be unperturbed of the planned defection of our esteemed members on Saturday (today) in Yenagoa.
“There is no doubt that some of these defectors are men and women of high political substance and pedigree who have contributed to our past achievements.”

OUR REFINERIES WILL NOW MAKE PROFITS — NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, yesterday, stated that its ongoing restructuring was designed to reposition its operations and refineries to profit-making ventures.

This was even as the NNPC denied claims that it was pursuing an ethnic agenda in the ongoing restructuring of the corporation.

The NNPC, in a statement issued after an interactive session with the top management of the Corporation in Abuja, disclosed that it is poised to ensure that all its refineries are run efficiently and profitably to meet the energy needs of the country.

Speaking at the forum, Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mr. Emmanuel Kachikwu, stated that the days when the Corporation was perceived as a civil service organization instead of a Corporation were over.

According to him, the Corporate Service Unit and all the Strategic Business Units of the NNPC would henceforth be run as profit centers.

To this end, Kachikwu solicited the support of the management of the NNPC and its subsidiaries in closing the skills gap and in turning the fortunes of the Corporation around.

He stated that efforts are in top gear to create a conducive working environment for members of staff, adding that for the NNPC to transform into a profit center like its peers in other climes, the morale of the work force must be high.

He urged the management to provide leadership by example to the workforce while adding that sectionalism, tribalism and any form of non-transparent transactions must be completely stamped out of the NNPC.

He also appealed to members of staff to act as change agents, assuring them that in the next 60 days some of the strategic targets would be translated into concrete milestones to the appreciation of all Nigerians.

Commenting on claims that it was pursuing an ethnic agenda, the NNPC disclosed that its recent appointments and retirement were done with the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari and in compliance with federal character principles.
It said, “The NNPC has decried attempts by a section of the media to politicise the recent appointments and retirements in the Corporation by imputing ethnic colouration to the exercise.
“The appointments were made with the express approval of President Muhammadu Buhari and in compliance with extant laws regarding federal character, while the retirement exercise affected all those who were to retire between now and 2016 without any regard to ethnicity or state of origin.
“The recent appointments, promotions, and retirements are all a part of the ongoing restructuring exercise aimed at repositioning the Corporation into a lean, efficient, profit-driven organization in line with international best practices without regard to primordial sentiments.”
The NNPC, however, called on the Nigerian public to discountenance any report aimed at denigrating the ongoing reorganisation exercise in the Corporation.”

Q: Jose, quite an important issue has been raised this week. Who is ultimately in charge?
Mourinho: I don’t answer.
Q: It is a serious issue.
Mourinho: I don’t answer.
Q: But you’ve brought it into the spotlight.
Mourinho: I don’t answer.
Q: Can you give us any idea why they won’t be on the bench?
Press officer Steve Atkins: I don’t think Jose wants to discuss the issue further.
Q: Have you spoken to the players in terms of their role in injury management?
Mourinho: That’s my problem.

MARK ZUCKERBERG EXPECTING HIS FIRST CHILD AFTER THREE MISCARRIAGES

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla are proud to announce that they are pregnant after series of miscarriages.

The Silicon Valley power couple broke the news on Twitter today, including some very personal and touching words about their earlier struggles with miscarriage.
Priscilla and I have some exciting news: we’re expecting a baby girl!
This will be a new chapter in our lives. We’ve already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people’s lives around the world — Cilla as a doctor and educator, and me through this community and philanthropy. Now we’ll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation.
We want to share one experience to start. We’ve been trying to have a child for a couple of years and have had three miscarriages along the way.
You feel so hopeful when you learn you’re going to have a child. You start imagining who they’ll become and dreaming of hopes for their future. You start making plans, and then they’re gone. It’s a lonely experience. Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own.
In today’s open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn’t distance us; it brings us together. It creates understanding and tolerance, and it gives us hope.
When we started talking to our friends, we realized how frequently this happened — that many people we knew had similar issues and that nearly all had healthy children after all.
We hope that sharing our experience will give more people the same hope we felt and will help more people feel comfortable sharing their stories as well.
Our good news is that our pregnancy is now far enough along that the risk of loss is very low and we are very hopeful.
Cilla and our child are both healthy, I’m extremely excited to meet her and our dog Beast has no idea what’s coming. In our ultrasound, she even gave me a thumbs up “like” with her hand, so I’m already convinced she takes after me.
We’re looking forward to welcoming her into the world and sharing more soon when she’s ready to come out and meet everyone!
